05' corsa life 1.0 with lpg tech... should I buy?
Im thinking about buying a 2005 corsa 1.0 which has lpgtech installed. I know what you're thinking, how tight is he with lpg on a 1.0 engine haha!
But does it matter that its lpgtech ? He says it's better because if I have to buy any new parts it'll be cheaper.
Has anyone else got lpgtech?

So mixed opinions, anyone else have any thoughts on LPG TECH?
Are the parts cheaper to replace if anything goes wrong?
Also, i live in east london so does anyone know if there are any LPG TECH mechanics around here?
oh and apparently it was installed by a company called Autogas ( they live in the sussex area so maybe its a local business?)

I don't think the LPG tech system is any good but as it is already fitted its free. You won't be paying any more for the car and when you do have to replace bits on the conversion it will still be cheaper than having a new conversion. You can also used a failed part as an opertunity to upgrade

Would be worth considering how old the conversion is - if its been on the car most of the cars life its probably getting to the point where it may need some tlc. Depends on the price as much as anything as to if its worthwhile (and you can always drop a different front end in if you decide its needed later)

Re: 05' corsa life 1.0 with lpg tech... should I buy?
That is a bit of a worry. A car of that age and millage has no reason to have had all those sensors replaced. Is there still a un resolved running issue with the car? Why were all replaced in the first place?jdavis986 wrote:THIS IS THE TEXT FROM THE AD FOR THE CAR- TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK- I've got them down to £1300 for the car.

I think they were replaced with the lpg system to avoid any problems....
Is that not normal? I'm meant to be buying the car tomorrow so need to know ASAP

Re: 05' corsa life 1.0 with lpg tech... should I buy?
By my standards 49k isn't even run in yet so wouldn't, or shouldn't, have needed anything replacing yet. While it's true that running on LPG will show up any minor faults that aren't noticed on petrol, it isn't normal to go around replacing loads of bits before the conversion is done. Especially not at that sort of mileage.
How does the price compare with a similar car without the LPG? Ideally, you don't want to pay any extra because it has been converted and, if you try really hard, you can sometimes get a car for less using the argument that the LPG system is more complication that may need attention from a specialist.

I think it's valued at about 1500. I'm paying 1300.
You have got me worried about the sensors but of they're installing lpg maybe it's normal to replace sensors?

I don't know how else we can say "it isn't normal to go around replacing loads of bits before the conversion is done"
Most likely it had some sort of fault, and someone went around changing lots before they stumbled on the right one. I wouldn't worry about it.
Worry more about the seller shelling out a grand on conversion and dumping the car within months - there might be a good reason of course.

Well old corsas arent exactly massively in demand and I think lpg sometimes puts people off..
So when I go to see the car tomorrow, what should I check for in terms of lpg? He's saying the lpgtech doesn't need a service for 5k

Re: 05' corsa life 1.0 with lpg tech... should I buy?
It always makes me laugh when I see 'LPG regularly serviced'
Generally it goes like this in our trade, you may be lucky and see the car for the first 10k service, or even the 1000 mile 'check up'. But I can't honestly say I have ever seen a conversion for very 10k service interval. Generally you never hear from them again.
And really, what is a service if its actually running properly.... Well just 2 filters, some systems just the one.

Re: 05' corsa life 1.0 with lpg tech... should I buy?
I have a couple of customers who have the service done on time every time but they also keep the proper car service intervals.
The norm is you never see them again after the first service.
Have a look at the car, if drives and runs ok and you are happy with it then buy it.

Re: 05' corsa life 1.0 with lpg tech... should I buy?
I bought the car but I feel stupid now because during the test drive he had the radio on, I never thought about it really, but since buying it and driving off Im hearing these weird noises from the lpg tank in the boot, every time I press the accelerator it makes a little noise almost like a bird tweeting- surely that's not normal? ? Any ideas what it could be?
But when the car is stationary and I rev the engine I don't hear it which is confusing. Any ideas would be much appreciated. I think it might also be the movement of stopping and starting but something from the tank is making noise and that makes me wonder why he had the radio on now!
Saying that I drove 100 miles home and didn't even lose one light on the lpg led indicator (there are 4 green lights) so good fuel consumption- it is a 1.0 though!
