VW T4 5 cyl position of Shut off valve and injector linking

#1 Post by Automods »

Hi Guys

I am just starting the install on my bus and am just querying a couple of things.

Firstly, my tank has both a manual and electric shutoff at the multivalve, but my kit has come with a second electric shut off solenoid, am I correct to assume that this is to be fitted as far front and as close to the reducer/regulator as I can get it ?

Secondly, I am using the 2 of the Dream OMVL injectors, have all pipes without kinks at a length of 120mm and nozzles about 20mm from the petrol injectors, as my engine is a 5 cylinder I have put 3 on one and 2 on the other, is it OK to link the two injector rails and have the gas input at one end and the sensor at the other rather than use the filter with 2 outputs and have to use the blanking plug and 2 hoses from the filter ?

My thinking is that the pressure wont be affected as the double filter does not balance the pressure, just splits the gas between the 2, this would mean a tidier and less congested engine bay.

Many Thanks.

Its fine to run them as a single rail. Maybe better to change the filter to a standard in line, one in one out jobby though. And the solenoid needs to be as close to the reducer as possible.

Pretty much all done.

Got a few bits of wiring to solder up and the supply pipe to clip to the underside of the van, got it routed roughly following the same path as the Brake lines and have plenty of room and places to clip and as I have use of a 2 post lift, I can get it up over my head to make sure its all good. Was going to use the plastic coated Metal P clips, is that correct ??

Then Tank supports to weld up and fit, and should be good to go tomorrow provided there are no snags, and then to hopefully get it certified with no issues next week (I hope)

As I work in car electrics and electronics have been quite happy to shorten and tidy the supplied loom so everything is the perfect length with no wrapped up and coiled up bits of loom. I installed new captive nuts into the bulkhead so that all fixtures such as reducer / solinoids and pressure sender can be fitted really nicely.

I had a good look through the hall of shame gallery on here and got a pretty good idea on how NOT to do the install.
