Assuming the gauge on the tank reads correctly, you need to tell the controller what type of sender you have fitted. Has the tank or gauge been changed or has it never worked?

Hi,

can anyone help? We have the exact same system.

Its on a Volvo XC90 fitted a few years back and worked fine.

Then the XC90 gearbox broke and after that was mended the LPG did not work - although the garage inisted they had done nothing to it .

We took it back to Tasso Augogas who did the original installation (now called something else) and they said we had to cvhange all the injectors. Its now working fine but always reads full. That was never a problem before but again they are insisting its nothing at all to do with the work they did on the system. It was reading two green LEDs when they took it in but would cut out very soon after switching to gas, then when we got it back it reads 4 LEDs righ until it runs out and then it flashes and bleeps like usual.

It runs fine, fills up fine - its just the LED reading thats not working.


Can anyone help?

I have the diagnostic kit and software off ebay but dont really know what I'm looking at and have not changed anything.

You have to work out if it's an actual physical wiring fault. If the sender has been unplugged. Or if the wrong sensor type has been selected in the menu under 'sensors' you got aeb, 0-90 ohm and non standard.
Unscrew the sensor at the tank. Careful not to drop the screws !
Put a screwdriver on the back and you will be able to turn the needle up and down.
Set it to half. Try aeb and see what it reads. Try 0-90 and see if it reads. It will show up on the laptop on the left hand corner of the map page before the switch. If you get a sensible reading out of one of those choices then you have cracked it. If not then you will have to look at the wiring.
A 0-90 sensor black to earth, green and white together. Aeb black to earth and just the white to White leave the green wire unconnected. If the earth is off it will read full.

See we just need to adopt the Italian way !!
We would be a lot happier. They don't mess about with silly lights telling you that you sometimes have 3/4 of a tank. 20 miles later it's down to 1/4.
They just have a 'reserve only sensor ' so you are driving along. Got loads of gas all 4 lights, you are a happy motorist. Then as you get through the tank the reserve comes on. So you know you need to get some gas. That's much easier. Just worrying when you need to. Instead of all the time.
Personally, I don't fit them at all on my own cars. Fill up, set the trip. When I hit a couple of hundred miles in the beetle I need gas. When the Skoda hits 300 miles it needs gas. It's simple.
