Jeep V8 installer (in Essex?)

#1 Post by Tommy Kaira »

Hello everyone,

I've got a Jeep Grand Chreokee with a 4.7 HO V8 and I'd like to LPG it. It's a 2002 and only done 50,000 miles so I guess it's a good candidate. I've looked around and been recommended a BRC(?) or Prins system with flashlube (to prevent valve damage I understand). Does this sound about right oris there another system I should be looking at?

Also, can anyone recommend an installer in or around Essex? Or is it worth my while travelling further afield to get someone specific to do it?

Any other advice welcome!

Speak to Keith (woody on here) at gastech (http://www.gastech.org.uk/) who is a decent installer and local to you.

LPG systems fall into 3 categories, there are the approved supplier only systems like Prins and BRC but you can run into problems further down the line as the software is only available to approved suppliers so is not held by other installers or DIYers (see http://www.lpgforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=12603). There are the Italian systems (OMVL, Zavoli, Romano, Emer, etc) that should be perfectly capable of running your car and then there are the Polish and other East European systems which tend to be bundled with cheap components which may have a shorter life than others. The advantage with the Italian, and to a large degree the Polish, systems is that the software is freely available and the systems are familiar to just about every installer. So if you do get stuck miles from home, any installer would be able to look at the system for you.
