Changig filters....service???

I have a Prins system fitted to a Jeep 5.7
The company who fitted it, keep telling me I need it serviced/filters changed etc etc
They won't sell me the filters, so in effect, it's £140 +VAT

Can I change my own? Where can I get them from??


Any advice?

The service consists of filter changes and checking/adjust of the lpg settings with the Prins software, and roadtest.
If the system is under warranty then I would have it serviced by an approved Prins installer. Prins software is not the easiest to get hold of yourself.

You have a few choices, its an expensive engine to risk running with a badly out of tune system but as one well respected installer/supplier told me.... if the system is well set up in the first place, and you have no petrol running issues, the lpg system will never go out of tune. You can then change the filters yourself (ebay, autogas-lpg,autogas 2000 or Tinley tech) if you are happy with that analogy. Its ok with my 2 cheap cars to experiment and service myself the lpg system..
Tell you the truth if it was mine and out of warranty, I would have a pro service every 2 years (depending on mileage) as the settings in the software ideally need checking,then change the filters myself half way through. It will be easier to sell one day too with pro lpg services in the book. With all the money your saving on gas you could go for the pro service every year.
The lpg installation/service industry really does consist of good guys in my experience, the service cost is reasonable all told.

There is not a lot of adjusting you can do with the prins software.

Have you had flashlube fitted? With most other LPG systems it would not be a worry but as you have Prins fitted make sure you have the flashlube.

A simple way to see if the system is in tune or not is to use your trip computer. Reset the mpg and do a run on petrol, note what average mpg figure it displays. Reset it again and do the same run on gas. If the mpg figure is the same, or at least very similar, then the system is in tune and won't need any attention.

You might need to cost DIY saving against any warranty problems.

Prins use some special fuel that makes it more prone to valve issues??

What makes you think Prins is somehow worse than any other make in this respect? Or are you thinking installation/setup issue?
