Electric Fan

#1 Post by SGW48 »

I have a 4.2 S/C Range Rover fitted with a Zavoli system which runs perfectly, the system is connected to obd socket. However the problem I have is after the first start up of the day at the same place give or take 1/2 mile the temp gauge drops from normal to nearly cold and the electric fan cuts in, then the temp gauge goes back to normal but the fan keeps on running. If I switch off and restart the engine all is fine.
On the S/C RR the viscous fan is also a combined electric one, on reading the engine fault codes the one flagged is "engine temp sensor stuck high" in reality this is not the case as I have changed all of the engine temp sensors and the live data shows all the temps ok.
The only two ways I can stop this happening is 1) on the first start of the day is to start the engine, switch off and restart or, 2) to disconnect the obd connections.
The rest of the day there is no problem with many start ups and it only happens on gas.

That would be the thing to do then; not every car network is happy to have alien devices attached.

This is a known problem - there is an aeb firmware which fixes it - zavoli should have it.

Thank you Charlie for that. I will try to find out what the firmware update is. Does anyone here know what version it might be.
