Step by step how to guide for setting up LPG with a laptop?

Has anyone got a link to a step by step how to guide that shows how to go about setting up a fully sequential LPG system using a laptop?
I've searched online and come up empty.

Would really like to know what work i'm letting myself in for before i go and buy a SGIS kit.

Depends what Sgis kit you want to set up really. Sgis (sequential gas injection system) is used by quite a few manufacturer's.
Might sit down and write one actually. All of the AEB stuff is pretty much the same base afterall. It would be useful. People do seem to get a bit confused when it comes to the set up.

Your supplier should be able to give you the support and advice on that if you are buying new.

Still think it would be useful though. A lpt of people buy from companies like autogas-lpg who give no support whatsoever. Back in 1996 when i bought my first kit and fitted it to a vauxhall cavalier i had nothing but a digram for an injection changeover switch in italian, no english translation and bugger all internet to help me !
I will have a go in the new year on the first conversion whatever that may be....

Yep remeber all the instructions in Italian. At least it gave you a chance to learn some italian or at leats colours!

Azzurro ? Wtf ! You wire everything else up and are left with a light blue wire..
So that must be azzurro then. One day i asked the italians what it meant when they where over on a vist. 'Azzurro is the colour of the sky' he said. ' well i dont think you have failed to noticed that would generally be dark grey and over cast over here'

It'll probably be an AEB based system and probably from Tinley Tech as they've been more than helpful with after sales service (and answering my stupid questions).
Just wondered really before i buy whether i could actually set it up myself. I've never done any sort of setup/tuning using a laptop before so have no idea whats involved.

Depends what car you are converting really. And that you get your install right. Injectors in the right place. Injector cut wiring in the right order and your map pipe and pressure feed the right way round on the sensor.
Other than that it's just a question of selecting the right bits in the software. Injector type, reducer pressure etc. If its obd and you have the diagnostic line connected up there is very little to do from the autocalibration. Which is just a question of following the on screen instructions. You can get an 'ok' tune just by using the adaptivity. Getting a really good tune is a little more complex.

Its a 1988 VW type 25 caravelle.
Looking at fitting a golf gti engine to it.

They convert well I suppose. As long as its a proper sequential injection, not digifant.

Its got proper sequential injection controlled by Siemens Simos ECU not bank fired like digifant.
They go pretty well with LPG i've been lead to believe.

Getting a 25% loss on LPG on my current carb'd single point open loop system at the moment so hoping it'll be a bit more efficient.

Yes, thats a good system to convert. And set up correctly you will get better mpg. If its pre obd2 then make sure you connect up the lambda so you can get a good tune on it.

Some engines have obd1 and some have obd2. It depends on the year. Looks like i'll need to retro fit the obd socket to the vehicle as it doesn't have one. I think its only a few wires though.

Its worth doing if you want to get a good tune. Connecting up the k line is really helpful, not essential, but really helpful. You can do the same job with a scanner connected to the non existent obd socket !
Or you could just connect the gas ecu to the k line at the ecu end. You can do well just with lambdas. But if you are really looking for good economy the key is keeping the fuel trims really tight.

Economy is my main goal with the engine swap, though the extra 40 bhp and 20 lb/ft won't go amiss.

Fitted a scooby boxer engine into my vw splitty when i was a youngster. When vw's where actually reasonable to buy. Absolutely scary, from a 2.0 l air cooled to a 2.0 boxer. You had to be so careful.
Oh they where the days ! i believe i was actually 'cool' back then. And many girls loved my van !
Now im 40, tubby and balding....oh where did the time go !
