sorry to be a pain in the arse all

right i hould have been clearer on how i have wired my changeover switch so here we go

switched ign live is from the + side of the ignition coil with an inlin 4amp fuse
negative is just to the body but i can put it to the battery negative or the main engine body earth strap (which is closer)
yellow +go' to the petrol cut off solinoid, this is also where i have took my switchd live to power my lectric fuel pump with an inline 4amp fuse
blue hooks up to the solinoids
green is the lpg sender wire which is working
brown is the pulse wire which i had on the negative of the coil but i'll have to check if it switches off after some time, i could still here the swooshing from the vaporiser when the engine stalled,

if the engine stalls & i have a 2nd person with a finger on the solinoids they should feel for instance the vaporiser solinoid click

i'm sure mine does'nt prime when the pulse is on coil negative, it just runs constant!!!

just a reminder, i bloody hate electrics lol I KNOW ITS LOGICAL but electric does illogical things i'm sure of it hehe! if i had a beer to hand i'd definately have one tonight

oh yeah my switch is a VIP MINIVIP1-I 0-90 Ohm

i have also remebered the yellow lpg light is going out during engine cranking when the rpm/pulse signal is wrapped around the king/HT lead
i can also hear the priming happen, solinoid turns off & when i crank the engine i hear no solinoid come back on

when the rpm/pulse wire is on the negative of the coil (i think, not 100%) the yellow lpg light stays on & it runs on lpg

Sounds like you have it right to me....if you turn on the key and you get a timed scwoosh, the solenoids turn off they wont turn back on until you get a proper rpm feed. So the timed shot needs to be long enough to actually start the engine for a second or more. Thats the way i have always done it with a vip switch. Mind you i have to say i havent fitted one for years. Used to fit a lot 'back in the day' when i was positively less tubby and had hair on my head and knew everything !
Once the engine is running the switch lights will come back on and a rev sense will be there and all the solenoids should open.
The gas cuts off after a couple of seconds or so once the engine has stalled. You should then hear it click off, thats your bump start time
Get a good system earth, using the earth strap or battery neg post.

my gas definately is'nt turning off, as i say i'll double treble check it all again tomorrow but nearly 100% its not shutting off, to be fair i'm mulling going out now for 5 mins as curiosity is getting the btter of me LOL

any mor tips guys let me know



i also p-clipped the gas line in the engine bay today, electrics though chaps gooorrrrr..........blimey i hate um!

I used to do a lot of VW campers, don't get so many in these days. My only gripe with them is usualy you ended up fixing oil leaks, failed brakes and once I had to put a complete rebuilt engine in as the van did not make it to on its own power!

Ah but you must have realised by now that fitting LPG causes all sorts of problems that wouldn't happen ordinarily. That one just died at the thought of it, the owner shouldn't have told it where it was going.......

how do i'm back, a bit of life got in the way of my lpg conversion, i have it all wired up, & i had it ticking over on lpg (still have a full tank of lpg) i lost my job so my vw has been on the backburner

it still needs setting up to run, i've basicly done the rest

i have another vehicle i'm considering going lpg with if it can be done simply/cheaply its a 2.0i petrol transit 1998, its the ford i4 8 valve twincam, same engine as the sierra

would this be easy to convert??? anyone recommend a simple DIY kit for this or is it more complex with a fuel injected vehicle???

They are a lloy inlet manifold and work ok on a mixer system

as the my transit could you guys suggest a kit, what the chance i could get a kit fitted & workign for £500??????

my dub is on webers!!! i have had it rolling roaded so it starts drives well, at moment its off the road but i have a recovery truck so could put on the back & drive to whereever you are mr swede!

i have a gunsons gas analyser, how accurate it is i dont know! but can bring it with me, be great to get the dub driving on lpg
