Difficulty Starting after new install.

HI guys, I had the install 'fixed' on Thursday as it was smelling of gas. And now we have a new problem.
Friday and today it has failed to start - an hour after previous use. But started fine at the beginning of the day, and was fine for a few journeys in-between.

When I turn the key it idles at a very low rpm, and is very lumpy. It will then either splutter to a stall, or just about make it through and come to life.

I have tried pressing the throttle but it doesnt alter the rpm.

Can the lpg install cause this? as the car is trying to start on petrol (or so im told), so im not sure what the log could have to do with it.
But, its only started happening since they 'fixed' my gas smell. (which was some dodgy O ring in the vaporiser I think (or possibly the pressure regulator).

In short - the car is warm, but its struggling to start, or failing to start. One the times it does start, its perfectly fine to drive.


Any pearls of wisdom?

Possibly, I can think of a couple of causes - fault allowing gas to seep into manifold (flooding if you like), or poor setup causing the petrol system to adopt unreasonable fuel trim values.
Could of course be completely unrelated; stale petrol, vapour locks, pump problems, etc etc.

An investigative move might be to run on petrol for 10 minutes before you switch off, when you are expecting to restart hot.

Ive tried re-starting 10 times and its fine now! - I will live with it for a week or so and note the symptoms.

Well, the symptoms have changed over night!

It starts on petrol (although it was doing that 90% of the time yesterday so no change there)

But, It now splutters and dies as soon as it changes over to lpg. every time. so I have to run it on petrol!

I have contacted the installer - who said he will ring me tomorrow.
not having the best lpg experience so far!

What could cause it to cut out as soon as it changes over?

From an empty tank, to pretty much anything else ...

It might be wrong LPG ECU wiring, faulty reducer, as rossko said, and wrong setup.

Could be lots of things.

Let us know what the installer says they have done to fix it.

We have had the car back, 'fixed'. but time will tell.

Originally we had a smell of gas on change over, and they altered a pressure release valve in the vapouriser.
This stopped the smell, but then we had this stalling issue.

Apparently the vapoursier has now been swapped for a new unit. But the pressure had damaged a pipe and killed an injector.
So new vapouriser, pipe and injector have been put in place.

Hopefully we finally have a car running on LPG!

Once im happy that its finally sorted I will post a full write up in the story section!

Is this a ultra gas vapouriser by any chance?

Im not sure. Will it say on it?- I could take a picture.

I will have to remove some engine covers to get to it though.

take it back to the installer I suspect that the wiring is suspect it is just possible that a wire has broken and although you start on petrol it changes straight to lpg before it has warmed up,if the system is BRG this may well be the problem as the system is good but the bundle of wires are prone to give this problem soon after installation.

They are coming to us tomorrow. sigh
