Bigas G.I.S. Vaporiser -

Hello all, I'm a newbie here and would appreciate a little advice, please on my Bigas SGIS system.

As you can see from the attached photo (Bigas Diagnostic 1), I cannot start the Calibration mode of the software until the Vaporiser Temperature reaches ‘OK’ (40°C) - yet as you can see from the photograph, the actual running temperature of the car was the normal 80°C, and the car is running on gas when switched over to LPG (using the petrol/lpg switch inside the car).
To me, this all indicates a problem with the Vaporiser Temperature Sensor, and not with the complete Vaporiser unit (otherwise the car would not run on gas!).

Sounds like it. Nice cheap bit to change, ring tinley tech and get a replacement one.

The temp sensor says 87C, no point replacing it. What happens when you move the switch to gas?

Hi and thanks for the answers folks….

When I switch it to gas, it runs on gas – just not very smoothly. I need to re-calibrate the ECU and cannot get any further into the Calibration Mode due to this message ‘Wait for the reducer temperature to overcome OK then switch to GAS’… So my first thought was simply the temperature sensor is at fault….?

I’m a little puzzled, so appreciate any ideas!

What version of the software are you using? (I have V5.1.5 if you need it)

Does the screen show the correct temperature when the engine is cold?

What happens if you disconnect the temp sensor (orange & Black wires)?

Hi T2BC,

I'm using: - Software: Bigas SGIS, ver. 3.4.2.5 l

This is the same software I received when the system was installed back in 2002. FYI - I connect to the ECU using a serial cable (which is also piggy-back connected to the vaporiser pressure gauge/manometer [www.autogasetneo.be/en/webshop/autogas- ... system/508]).

I must take another look at the system this weekend and do a bit more trouble-shooting on the vaporiser & sensor. I'll take screenshot photos of the software in the engine warm-up phase (i.e. from cold to 80C), and then I'll try your suggestion of disconnecting the temp sensor to see what happens on the PC software.

Sorry I was a bit hasty posting this on the forum, but I wasn’t sure if it was a no-brainer, easy fix. I must learn to be more thorough in my analysis and will come back after the weekend with my additional findings.

I'm not sure if it will help or hinder, but here's a link to v5.1.5 of the BiGas software, which I believe is in the public domain. You need to purchase a 'key' to access some of the advanced features, but you probably won't need them for setting-up the system.

However, I notice it's for the SGISN version; my system is the earlier one that is not the 'N' version. Do you know if the old and new systems are compatible, particularly for ECU mapping/programming?

In no way.

I have to say this feels like "finger trouble", I still don't get what happens when you set the switch to gas while the "waiting for temp.." message is up (and it is warm). I guess nothing! Can't remember if you need to click or press 'enter' or something to move on.

Got a reliable RPM reading? Or TPS, Lambda and MAP come to that.
