Ford S-Max - anyone done/got a conversion?

Hi, we're thinking of our next car, and we really like the idea of the ford S-Max. I personally like the 2.5 I5 volvo engine model in the titanium spec, but it only does about 26mpg, so natrually having run a LPG car for the last 5 years, I thought I'd check to see if it can be converted.

Greenfuel's online quotation system suggests that the car can be converted with a flash-lube system, but having looked over one today I could not see any logical place to locate the gas tank - as it does not have a spare wheel.

Just wondered if anyone else has an Smax converted, or knows of one that has been done!

Great, but you have you worked out that Lpg running costs will be less than half?

Anyway, just bought a 2.5 turbo (Focus ST-Engined) S-Max.
Found an LPG fitter who did the LPG conversion which is great.
60 litre tank giving up to 430 miles range.
220bhp 7-seater people carrier which does the petrol equivalent of £32 in lpg against £80 in petrol.
They managed to fit the tank in under the rear covers, so boot space not compromised.
I now have 3 LPG cars (Subaru Legacy 3l, Suzuki 1.5 Sport and S-Max 2.5t).

My ST has 55L petrol tank. On a slow good run I get 300 - 320M max. 230 - 270 in town. This is the lighter focus, not the heavier S-max.
So a 60L lpg tank = 48L usable space. With that if you get 430 miles, then you are getting 41MPG on LPG. Sounds incredulous, esp given the range of MPG reported on the ST owners club is nowhere close to that.
Would love to know how you managed to better petrol consumption on lpg by a factor of nearly 25%?

Well, I am happy for you if that is the case.

Having had the S-Max myself when my ST went in for a service/recall, I got worse mileage than the ST, due to what I thought was the excess weight I was lugging about (1676kg vs 1392kg, nearly 300kg more). And gearing making up nearly 20mpg more is generally unheard of. Particularly as my loaner S-max did not seem to revving any lower than my ST in 6th.
Generally LPG mileage is less than that of petrol due to the lower calorific value. This despite the RON being higher.5 - 10% lower. Happy to be told otherwise if this is the case.

So none of that adds up. How are you working out your mileage?

We have had a few people claim similar mileages on the ST owners forum, but could not sustain that when we met up at meets and went for a run etc.
