Lexus IS300 Sportcross conversion

Mate of mine has just got one of these into the household and we were discussing LPG. His V6 Omega is (DIY) converted and runs perfectly as we've done several of them now but there doesn't seem to be a lot of technical knowledge on the Lexus Owners Forum he asked on Plenty of pub gossip though

Anyway... Anyone converted one? Power figures are similar to the 6 Cyl Omega so we know the kit should be OK and have already said that it needs Flashlube. Any other pitfalls to look out for? Plus, I'm sure someone posted about a "Fix" for the petrol gauge still going down when running on LPG but I can't find it

Thought I'd ask on here for some sensible input instead of creative figures to try and prove it isn't worth it and pub gossip about how much power it will lose

Done many an RX 300 Lexus (or is it lex'i ?) I'm presumimg it's the same engine. They convert well, go very well. They aren't the best on fuel as it is but they don't suffer terribly diminished economy on gas. Infact I had a report from one of my customers that it was doing the same on gas as it was on petrol. Couldn't see that myself, not unless the laws of physics changed when I wasn't looking.
One of the AEB petrol gauge emulator thingies does work I'm told but I always presumed that there wasn't one so have never actually fitted one as yet. Next time one turns up I will, but they reset themselves every 150 miles anyway. I have just always told the customer the problem and the 150 mile reset.
They are all a bit prone to cat's. And you absolutely need a flash lube.

Thanks Tubbs... Think the RX is a V6 whereas the IS is a S6 but, at the end of the day, if the RX takes it OK then I'm sure the IS will too

Although he is more than capable of converting it himself (apart from the electrical connections and tuning ) I know he wants a hand so I'll be called in to help Good excuse for a curry and a few beers though

I ran an is200 for years myself on gas and it was great. That was a straight 6. Just a 2 litre instead of a 3. Prolly one of the best cars I have ever owned.

Keeps you out of mischief mate. Nice to get your hand dirty every now and again. I don't think I was ever cut out to be a suit personally. I don't really understand why people would go to work in an office. I tried it for a bit, I was never happy. I'd much rather be up to my elbows in an engine any time !

Same here... Can't get on with office work I much prefer being my own boss, although I now have the stress of taking on a couple of employees Still, can't complain

Yeh that's the road to ruin ! You have to at least treble your turnover just to stand still. And it's a headache from start to finish. But needs must sometimes unfortunately.
