Meter Calibration.
My Stag manual gives instructions on how to automatically calibrate the LPG level indicator thus
1. Depress and hold the indicator button
2. Switch off the ignition.
3. Press the indicator button again.
I tried this but having keyless ignition, it would not work.
Any suggestions please?

Hi,
There's a thin red wire in that is alone in a single sheath coming from the Stag ECU's main wiring harness.
Connecting this wire to battery positive will have the ECU thinking the vehicle ignition is switched on.
Hopefully the rest should be obvious but I can explain if you have any questions...
However, the Stag ECU's can be setup to work with a wide range of fuel level sender units, and some of these settings are for powered sender units. If you have a none-powered sender unit or if you have the wrong type of powered sender unit and the ECU is set up to read a powered sender unit then the sender unit may have already been damaged. If the ECU has been set to the wrong type of sender unit then you will need the interface to correct the ECU setting or it will never work.

Thanks Simon. I think I'll let it stay as it is rather than bugger it up with my attempts.
It works quite happily anyway. Just not terribly accurately.

they are not the best in general anyway m8, just try and keep track of your mileage, thats what i do

And Mondeo is correct in that LPG fuel gauges are seldom great.
The problems with them are:
They work from the tank float, which is foam like material. LPG is only half as dense as water, so it takes a fair depth of LPG in the tank before the float will even lift, so in the best case scenario there is always going to be a fair bit of fuel in the tank when the gauge shows empty.
The above situation is compounded by the fact that ECU manufacturers error on the side of caution - they set the 'standard' fuel level settings to be pessimistic in regards to actual fuel level - because this way it is less likely that the gauge will show a quarter full when the tank is empty.
Both the above are compounded by the fact the most installers don't bother to adjust the standard fuel gauge settings by calibrating it. Indeed, this would be difficult unless the installer had oppurtunity to run a few complete tanks full of fuel off. When we calibrate a new system we always set the quarter tank level at a point just above what the tank is when it is completely empty, and lower the half / three quarter and full tank settings according to our experience with that sender on that tank. This ensures the best results without having the oppurtunity to run a few tanks full of fuel off.

I have in the past, messed around with the voltages to try to get a more accurate reading but when I saw that it was possible to do an automatic calibration, I thought I'd give it a go.
Like John_D, I always reset after each fill and go by the mileage so I'll stick with that.

I've got keyless ignition in A8 and did'nt have any problems with calibration.....but not with keyless ignition which was what my initial posting was about.

Even keyless still must have a way of switching the ignition off or the car wouldn't stop until you walked away from it?

When I push the 'stop' button, the engine switches off and the hand brake is applied. Everything else stays powered up until I get out and close the door.
I haven't yet worked out a way to get out of the car and close the door whilst still keeping the meter button depressed but I'm open to suggestions. lol

Re: Meter Calibration.
How about temporarily putting a switch in the ignition switched supply to the LPG ECU? Then you would be able to disconnect the supply without having to bother with the keyless system. Extend the wiring into the car (even if you run a cable out from under the bonnet and in through the window) and fit a simple on/off switch in line with the supply. That should let you fool the system into thinking the ignition has been turned off without having to get out of the car.
