Wanted Software for BRC Sequent 56 6 cylinder

It used to be available here http://www.elpege.cz/software/brc/ but the website has had a redesign. A couple of weeks ago, there was no software there at all, now it appears to be appearing a bit at a time. If you are lucky, the Sequent 56 may pop up in the next few days.

Info: real BRC Sequent software requires a hardware dongle. No doubt there are hacked versions circulating in Russia, download at your own risk

Well i have obtained a copy of the software, just gotta see how much i can do with it, once all rigged up, either that or find a dongle somewhere

It's a parallel port type

That'll be fun. Finding a computer with a serial port is hard enough these days but parallel ports disappeared long before serial ports did.

I made the comment before I read the link - much more clever than the dongle I made. Mine was simply to bypass the BIOS password on my laptop, after it suddenly decided to enable password protection without my say so!

Dongles are programmed with security codes that match up to and enable the appropriate software or hardware.

In other words, when the software is booting, one of its commands can be to search for a valid security key (Dongle) before completing the start up process.

Usually securely incorporated into the main program code. Of course it's only as secure as the coder makes it. Fairly well outlined on wiki here scroll to issues.

Hmmm sorry Rossko, i did post a reply ages ago, but it didnt appear.....strange, i meant for the interface lead, which i hmmmm was gonna say have, but my lappy died, so it's had :-/ anyways, it wouldn't work, still wont tbh, but i'm currently chasing wires, as there seems to be nothing coming out of the ECU even tho theres lives going in, so am still wondering if ECU is goosed
