Everybody seems to get more lpg mpg than me. We get 20mpg average 2.4 outlander and 26mpg average from the 1600 zafira. Mixed driving in both cases.
How are these jags and beemers getting the 30 mpg on petrol I keep reading about on here? Could hardly get that when the zafira was petrol only, perhaps if it had a ally body
.
To make me feel even worse most of the factory fit zafira and vectras on ebay get 35 mpg average!!!! That's what the ads say so it must be true.

My 1.8 freelander tends to average between 28-32 mpg on gas but it dosn't get much better on petrol.

Hi Jagman,
Are you sure about this 16-17p/mile? Because that is 37-38 mpg, which is unbelievable good from a XJ6.
Check your fuel consumption regularly there are huge differences between fuel pump pressures that gives you headache or heart attack.
After the first fill up I calculated 42 mpg the second was 24 ... maybe after 10 you can have clearer view.
If the price on LPG is not 40% less, you need to tweak the gas map.
I've got 32 instead of 35 mpg on my Zafira, but only if I drive carefully.
However since gas is cheap I have heavier foot, that's why I have around 28-30 usually ( as well as a new MAF sensor
).
So don't worry it will be around 40% cheaper on long run.

quite disappointed in consumtion!
working out just fuel cost per mile...
LPG = 15p/mile
Petrol = 16-17p/mile
Hardly worth the difference! I pay 74p for lpg, and 130p for unleaded.

Re: How far do you get with LPG? eg. How many miles for £10
2003 53 Corsa 1199cc approx 270mile on 37litres
£10 = 15.4 litres
£10 = 112 miles
Normal combined driving on 'A' roads and motorway
I think the thread should be started again with How far do you get on 30 litres?
As it stands you can hardly draw any comparison between the posts because there;s no continuity.
I can increase my range with 100% motorway but surprisingly not by much, I think 100% motorway I might be able to get 310 miles but I have never really measured it.
My old car a 2.0 litre Omega used to get 344 miles city driving and 700 miles on the motorway on one 113 litre tank of LPG.

Hi. I'm new to the Forum and LPG. I thought about it for years and should have changed sooner!
I have a 1.8 Rover 75 and when I'm doing 60 - 70 mph mostly Motorway (with some Town) it's about 100 miles for £10.00.

Or how about a revolutionary idea - we all compare miles per gallon?Rosanbo wrote:I think the thread should be started again with How far do you get on 30 litres?

Hi,
I have converted hundreds and hundreds of vehicles!
Most vehicles get around 10% less mpg on LPG than on petrol. The worst case scenario is about 25% more LPG than petrol. The best case is about equal mpg to petrol... But most vehicles use about 10% more LPG.

Re: How far do you get with LPG? eg. How many miles for £10
Hi again folks.
Toyota Carina "lean burn" 1.8 gsi hatch.
With BRC Just system single point.!!
back seats down and boot full with stuff, spare wheel, trolley jack, boxes of tools etc etc
mileage same for town as motorway driving for me!!
23.67 lt = 150 miles cost £16 eg 29mpg on lpg@ £0.679p local!!!
140 lt = 890 miles cost £95 eg 29mpg on lpg @ £0.679p motorway !!!
petrol 34mpg local !! @ £1.33 150 miles = 20lt cost £26
petrol 40mpg motorway !!@ £1.33 890miles = 101lt cost £135.
hope this is understandable !!!
The only thing i would change would be the size of my LPG tank 42lt useable 33lt too small and too many stops to fillup!!
Lights start flashing even with over 10lt still in tank.
so refill at under 20lt. pain..

Hi Everyone :
I am new to owning an LPG car , so please advice me if this fuel consumption is correct ?
Vehicle : Mercerdez E320t (3.2ltr) , Estate V6 Auto
Romano squential system
Around Town /Short Journeys
50 ltrs of Lpg @ 71p/ltr i get around 170-180 miles , driving with care and attention ie, very slow with a very light right foot....
I havnt taken her on a long journey as yet but when i do i will get some figures posted here...
I'm looking forward to a reply from someone who has a similar car or has the experience to say if this consumtion was good or poor ?
Kind Regards

Audi S6 4.2 V8 Quattro 340bhp fitted with a 60 litre tank. I get between 100-140 miles out of a full tank, depending how I drive which is quite hard most of the time.

Re: How far do you get with LPG? eg. How many miles for £10
I have a 2007 BMW 3 series E90 318i (2 litre engine) with an lpg tank of 60 litres = 48 litres usable capacity. It has a good quality Versus system fitted for nearly 2 years now, converted professionally by a UKLPG BRC specialist at a cost of £1100.
This gives 330 miles on a full tank of lpg = 31.4 mpg (mainly local driving, some motorway)
Petrol on a combined cycle would normally be around 35mpg, therefore 10% drop in economy with lpg.
I have a more expensive flash lube based system fitted (VAP) which is not really necessary for BMW engines, but is more of a safe-guard measure.

volvo 120 estate 2.0 litre mixer type system getting about 21-22mpg round town 330miles to the tank which is 94 litres
Re: How far do you get with LPG? eg. How many miles for £10
On my MK4 golf 1.6
on petrol £10 7.0 -7.5 Liters will get me 54-60 miles, I always stick V Power in now!
LPG £10.26 at 78.9p my expensive local garage gets 13 liters another (gallon and a bit over petrol ) which got me 95 miles the other day, until I go somewhere cheaper to fill right up.
A full tank of branded petrol around 50 liters gets me 380 miles £65-70
A Full Tank of Tesco petrol gets me 350-360 miles
A the last full tank of gas 44.5-45 from the shell pumps about £34 @75.9p about a liter before it went up the other weekgot me 300 miles. Other places don't seem to up as much in and the cheapest place cuts off at 36liters
.
I don't usually go anywhere near a motorway.

If you do shorter journeys your car will use petrol for the warm up period (which in the winter can take 4-7 mins depending on outside temp and how congested the road is - an open road will allow the engine to heat up more quickly and switch over to LPG faster) So a 10 minute journey in winter may be running on petrol for 85% of the journey - warm up period- and then 15% LPG for the remainder 2 mins of the journey!) In the Spring/Summer/Early Autumn you could reverse those figures % as the warm up period is much shorter and you will mainly use LPG with barely any petrol use.
Your LPG consumption seems fairly poor (more than 50% worse than mine) but your engine is 50% bigger than mine and your car is an automatic.
You didn't mention how old your car is either.. an older engine will be less efficient...
