Euro Dish to UK Bayonet Filling point change

Hello Every one

I have a Vectra 2.2 Elite with AC Stag 4 system recently been installed in Latvia. Since installed in Latvia is was fitted with Euro Dish filling point. I wasnt sure that I will get the car converted so I did not took the UK Bayonet adaptor with me to get it fixed while installation.

So now I want to change the filling point to UK one which will save me screwing the adaptor every time I fill up.

Does any one have How to do and what parts I will need to fit it OR its not worth doing it your self.

Finally All comments will be appreciated.

Suppose it depends on your skills if it's worth it or not, am not sure what connector will be on the back of your dish, you might be able to do a straight swap for a UK filler point if it's a 8mm copper with compression joint to it, or it maybe a JIC connector so you would need a filler with a JIC connector on it as well.

Have a look at some pictures on tinley tech or around and see if you can identify what you have first, then you'll know what to get to swap it.

A bodge......

It looks like you've got 8mm Polyflex pipe to the tank but the filler can only take 6mm so you've got a join between the two. That must take weeks to fill, 8mm is slow enough with restricting the flow even more.

Can't really see what it is fitted into but I would say you need the third item down on this page http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/acatalog/Fi ... _caps.html (the UK Bayonet straight).

You'll also need one of these, (N03) Fitting for Faro 8mm Poly pipe to 8 mm from this page http://www.tinleytech.co.uk/acatalog/Po ... tings.html. As the filler fitting is designed to take 8mm copper pipe with a nut and olive, this fits on the end of the Polyflex pipe and converts it into something that is the same as 8mm copper pipe.

Looks normal enough to my eyes ; an 8mm poly pipe with a 8mm plain standpipe fitting, going in turn into the 8mm compression fitting forming the back of the cup filler.

Don't forget you need a housing as well as the filler brassware. It looks like you've got room for usual fully recessed plastic bucket, which is bulkier behind than the cup type.

Time to order the stuff

So i need the full housing with the the filling adaptor and the Faro is that right?

you need 2 parts, the filler and polypipe to 8mm stud for compression fitting on the filler.

The pipe from the filler to tank will have liquid gas in at pressure, make sure your outside and then loosen the nut (enough to allow the hiss) on the back of the filler and let the gas escape before undoing it and taking it off, then undo the poly pipe connector side and take that off and change filler etc and put back together.

Be aware "change filler etc" involves cutting a large 70mm hole in the body. You'll be wanting to try the new fitting for size etc. before committing to that, and it'll take some time to open the hole with hand tools. Then you might want to seal/rustproof the cut edge and allow to cure before assembly. It's not just a 5 minute bolt on.
