WANTED URGENTLY A PRINS SWITCH/FUEL-GAUGE
WANTED URGENTLY A PRINS SWITCH/FUEL-GAUGE
WANTED URGENTLY A PRINS SWITCH/FUEL-GAUGE I AM TOLD THAT IT IS THE OLDER TYPE WITH A SEPARATE BUZZER NOT THE ONE WITH BUILT IN BUZZER.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR WEEKS FOR A NEW ONE THEY SAY IT IS MADE IN JAPAN HENCE PROBLEM GETTING ONE I WOULD LIKE A NEW ONE BUT A GOOD WORKING SECOND HAND ONE WOULD BE OK.
THE CAR RUNS ON GAS OK BUT WHEN I PRESS THE BUTTON TO SWITCH IT ON I CANNOT TELL IF I AN RUNNING ON GAS OR PETROL AND A 4ltr JEEP IS NOT CHEEP TO RUN ON PETROL.

As an easy indicator, go to a car accessory shop and get yourself one of those tacky plastic dash lights. Connect one side to ground and the other side to one of the LPG solenoid valves. That way it will be lit whenever the solenoid is energised so you'll know you're running on gas.

Re: WANTED URGENTLY A PRINS SWITCH/FUEL-GAUGE
This idea had accrued to me but as I no next to nothing about how the electrics work I thought that if I suggested it to the experts in the garage they would laugh at me I just assumed that it would not work.Gilbertd wrote:As an easy indicator, go to a car accessory shop and get yourself one of those tacky plastic dash lights. Yes it will work no problem. The solenoid valves under the bonnet will have two wires connected to them, one will be ground the other will have 12V on it when running on gas. Just connect one side of the bulb to the 12V side with the other side of the bulb connected to ground. Your light will be on when running on gas.

I don't see it as a bodge, more a temporary solution to avoid running on petrol when you don't realise until you can obtain the correct switch.

Re: WANTED URGENTLY A PRINS SWITCH/FUEL-GAUGE
I'm sorry I did not mean it in a nasty way It's just that I was worried that people would think that the problem has been sorted and I have been thinking about getting another car but how can I expect to get a half decent price for this one if I have to tell the buyer that the main switch/gauge dos not work as the fuel is the main selling point.mat_fenwick wrote:I don't see it as a bodge, more a temporary solution to avoid running on petrol when you don't realise until you can obtain the correct switch.
As you say putting the light on would help me and that has to be a good thing.

I hadn't read it in a nasty way, just that I thought it was a nice simple idea, which might help you save a few quid
Might be worth phoning round a few Prins installers, just to see on the off chance?

Re: WANTED URGENTLY A PRINS SWITCH/FUEL-GAUGE
One thing that I was thinking about if I cannot get hold of a switch/gauge I am not bothered about the gauge as I just drive it until the buzzer starts buzzing then I switch it over to run on petrol and fill up with gas when I have time to go and get some.
Just what dose the switch/gauge actually do if the one that I have has a separate buzzer and I do not need the gauge could I chuck the hole thing and just have a simple switch with a light in it to switch it on and off (http://www.extremeautoaccessories.co.uk ... 317&page=1 ) or is this just to simple as the switch has lots of electronic stuff in it.

It would not be easy to fabricate a replacement from parts.
Here's some suppliers

http://www.autogasetneo.be/en/webshop/s ... switch+vsi
Here are the UK distributors

There are different switch part numbers to suit different tank level senders ; the 90 ohm type is most common, but who knows what type you have.
Whether your old switch has an external buzzer or not is irrelevant ; a new type with internal buzzer can be substituted. The new ones can be switched for some different tank senders too.

I looked at the ETNED-AUTOGAS and they look to be the same as the one I have the problem is I had a good look at at my switch and there is no marks or numbers on it at all to say what one I would require.rossko wrote:It would not be easy to fabricate a replacement from parts.

If it helps I looked at the LPG conversion certificate and this is what it says
tank make auto tanks ltd
tank type cyl 73
regulator make prins
regulator number 2302589
Jeep Cherokee 4ltr
date converted 2003/4
that is all the information that I have to hand
the other problem is if I can find the one that I require would it be available to buy the place that put the new vaporiser on my jeep said that they were no longer available could that be rite or was he messing me about.
