not refill or run on gas

Hi all,
This is a new problem to me but probably not to you guys.....
Zafira 1.8ltr 2004 factory fit lpg looks like GSI..

I swapd filters as per a previous post, now down to the real problem:----

NOT accept gas from station......NOT run on gas..

Removed tank (an ICOM polo mint type)and noticed NO Power to solenoid ..
Tank gauge shows half full as did dash gauge..

Off to front of vehicle to check vaporiser solenoid--No Power .
Found green relay and 2 red fuses in box attached to bulkhead seems to feed solenoids,
removed relay and fuses which tested OK .

So looks like no solenoid activity is the reason for not filling or running on gas....

I've a few more tests to do to find where the relay is activated from (hence schematic help).

Anyone any ideas and a schematic/diagram of GSI..

What does your dashboard switch/light do?

Have a look at some of the posts here e.g. for 'astra' to find a diagnostic blink test for GSI

No error codes from ecu..

Switch to gas and it goes straight back to petrol because it thinks its out of lpg..
because solenoid does not activate to let lpg to vap. me thinks .

Could be, I had one just last week with an o/c front solenoid coil.

Divide and conquer ; loosen the pipe union at the front to see if liquid gets that far, then you work forward or back.

I'll refit the tank tommorow and check that.

Its just both solenoids (tank and vap) dont get switched on/off by I assume the ecu.

When I disconected the tank loads of Gas came out of the pipes -tank to vap.and. filler to tank

From that I took it the tank solenoid wasn't letting gas in from the filler and out to the vap.
Also the vap solenoid wasn't letting fuel into the vap therefore low pressure to sensors giving an out of fuel situation.
Possibly wildly out with my conclusion..

No, that's fine ; in normal circumstances you should have a few spoonfuls of liquid in both fill line and supply line. The liquid will make a lot of gas when you let it out!
If you had liquid in the supply line it's a good hint the tank solenoid is not the culprit, else the line would have emptied. So that would suggest the front solenoid or the electrics.

Don't over-complicate all this (tank removal?!) get someone to work the switch while you listen to the valves for clonks etc. Valves do get internally gummed up, as well as coil/electric issues.

bit of an update...
Took ecu off had a look round connectors, everything looked fine.
checked resistance on vap solenoid = 12.5 OHM same as tank solenoid..

Refited tank to vehicle.
started car let it warm and switched to gas(as would not switch to gas cold.) ..vap temp sensor must be working..

Initial tickover -fine, rev up to 2000 -fine , gave it a sharp rev to 4000 and on way back down it switched to petrol flashing away its lpg bulb..

road test..set off fine..constant speed will randomly flash lpg bulb and with a jerk switch to petrol..
It also seems fine going up hills..!! weard !!
Checked fault codes on lpg and no codes given as usual just the 12..

time to plug my opcom in and make more graphs to see what if anything rears its head..

I had an exhaust emmisions test done on petrol to see if that would show anything.BUT. the results were next to perfect LAMBDA 1.005 ..

So petrol side not far enough out to cause problems on LPG??.

Random flashing of the bulb and intermittent problems sounds more like a dodgy electrical connection somewhere than anything serious. Not serious but can be a right pain to find though....

there is no solenoid to stop the filling side of it, if it is not running on LPG then you may find that the tank is full and won't let anymore in.

Easy way to test, is to put 12v straight to the solenoid and see if the car runs on LPG

Took tank off and found little gauge on it revealing its half full.
Paid £30 for a new dutch bayonet fitting which proved other ok..
So it must be the float valve stopping fuel entering the tank..
Was not sure until you let me know it wasnt the solenoid. (thanks).
It appears the manufacturer of the tank and multivalve went bust around the time my car was factory converted and no other multivalve will fit (please correct if i'm wrong)..
So looks like a new tank and multivalve , which don't sound cheap so far...
Any ideas ?.

You don't seem to have verified whether any gas or liquid comes out of the tank if you hotwire the outlet solenoid with a loosened pipe union. Or maybe weigh the tank to see if there is any content.

ICOM ain't gone bust, but spares are hard to obtain in UK.

I refitted the tank,then retested the green relay in the fuse box,this was intermitent.Have not got round to getting another yet..but i'm leaning to that being the problem with intermitent running on lpg..when its works fuel comes from the tank to vap..
Yep the tank is definately half full , verified when tank was off the car...
I'm going the disconnect the tank solenoid to see if its on vap feed or inlet to tank when I've got a moment..
I did not see any evidence of a thermistor circuit on the tank as per your link..
(tommo2009 ((there is no solenoid to stop the filling side of it.)))probably correct..
So that would just leave the float mechanism to stop the fuel entering the tank..
That means tank off again when emptied and search for another multivalve..
I'm keeping a bit of a log to post when and if I get this beast working..
