jag xj40 1990 problem mith multi point setup

#1 Post by josht »

hi people i am hoping somone can help me out. I recently brought a multi point setup (stag 300) i think it was made 2007 i have fitted everything on and connected the softwhere to it but i cant seem to get the softwhere to reconise the injector pulse. i just get 0.0 for each cylinder with the engine running the softwhere is ac gas synchro i cant change the injection type it seems to only have standard (maybe this ecu dosent have the feature) i brought the kit secondhand but i dont think its the kit at fault maybe its just not compatable? it runs great on petrol still with the kit on so that rules out injector wiring. fault codes that i get on the gas ecu are petrol injector mising 1,2,3,4,5,6. hope someone can help

thanks josh

Unless you have reversed the wires so the injector pulses are being fed to the wrong wire. It'll still run fine on petrol because they are joined together but on gas the injector pulses from the petrol ECU need to be on the correct one.

Yes, but cars come with injector pin polarity left-positive or right-positive. I think all XJ40 will be a Lucas EFI, which if it follows the pattern of V8 Lucas EFI is left-handed compared to most other makes. I think our Mr.Gilbert was spot on ...

Not sure, but I don't think fully sequential arrived until the X300.

big thanks to gilburt and rossko :D :D iv now got injector pulse the only problem now is that it over fuels like mad on lpg even after auto calibration if i just turn one injector on at a time it missfires but if i ristrict the injector pipe with long nose pliers just right it clears. and runs smooth. the injector pulse on this car goes down to 00.1 at idle. maybe i need smaller jets?

quick update the injector jets are 3mm (i take it the jets are the pipe fittings that screw into the valtek injector blocks?) i have turned the gas pressure right down as far as i can and it ticks over nice but when i rev it up fault injectors fully open. so looks like smaller jets and more gas is what i need. should pressure be set to 1 bar as a base setting then adjust either way to fine tune?

just check what impedance the injectors are, i think some of the earlier jags had 3 ohm petrol injectors, which will cause problems with the LPG system

certainly will, most injection systems won't pick up the injector pulse.

Unless there is a unit out there to get around this then your LPG system is not suitable for this vehicle.
