No doubt someone that knows far more than me will offer their opinion but the Stag is a budget kit and I would be concerned that it wouldn't be up to the job.

My Jag has a stag 300 kit.

Points to note. Get the best injectors you can persuade the installer to fit. Modern engines need 'fast' injectors.
Connect up the wires for the lambda sensors. without them the auto setting function for the kit will not work properly.
Once the systems all fitted, and you have done the first 1000 miles get it properly sorted on a rolling road.

As above modern fully sequential petrol systems push the LPG injectors to the limit. Also make sure your reducer is big enough for the power of this engine.
Might be worth paying the extra few bucks for the 300 Premium.

I'd go for the Premium, assuming the RR is fully CANBUS? The big difference is that the Premium will monitor the long term fuel trims and adjust the LPG setting accordingly

As said, reducer and injectors are important, the STAG ECU is up to the job

Stag is one of the best LPG systems on the market offering many options that's not available from other manufacturers. It's cheap but that doesn't mean its bad.

Good injectors(Magic Jet,Matrix) and big enough reducer(Zavoli, KME) will do the job.

Just out of interest, how long should the bits last? Ive now done 52000 miles in my S-type (thats in about 18 months);can I expect things like the vapouriser to need changing/repairing anytime soon? The injectors are still the original, slow ones, so of coursae the long term trim is out by about 18%, I will replace with a fast set once they 'die'

On a slightly different note, and on ad vice from the installer, I did not have flash lube fitted. So far there is no indication of valve seat recession, the cams etc do not sound any different than from before it was converted. If the valve seats do recede, about how long does it normally take?

Currently I am running a set of silver spark plugs, which are supposed to make the coil packs (one for each cylinder) last longer. They have been in for 30 000 miles with no problems, and with them fitted the car is willing to pull from quite low revs, which it would not do with the original, long life patinum plugs. (which on LPG were lasting only about 10 000 miles)

regards
all

I agree, stag is a good bit of kit and rarely go wrong. Go premium, it is worth the extra money. You don't need can-bus, only OBD-II.

Injectors won't affect your trims, a bad map will. Your multi is out by quite a way, however varying reducer pressure will cause it as well, as the spring slowly sags and the pressure drops, your trims will go up to compensate.
Unsuitable injectors will only give you a rough idle (to short a duty cycle than they can cope with) or run out of puff top end (not enough flow) either way it means they haven't got enough range. If you don't suffer from either of these your injectors are fine.

Useful life varies, good clean fuel and regular filter changes, 100k+, neglect and dirty fuel 30k.
Injectors and reducer are usually the only things to give up.
Hope this helps.

Speak to Tinley Tech and check with them. They may suggest you need to fit dual vaporisers or a larger one than the standard kit. They've supplied quite a few and are noted for very good support both during and after the install.

Agreed... The support is good, although I'm not convinced I'd pay the prices they charge for a DIY kit personally

That's right! Why let someone earn a living for being helpful when you can give your money to someone who takes it and becomes deaf at the first sign of a problem. :?

Hang on a minute... I said that their support is good. I wouldn't pay that sort of money for a DIY kit because I don't feel it offers value for money to me, as someone who has done quite a few conversions and has a reasonable knowledge... The supplier I used has given me plenty of support for a smaller outlay

Of course, in an ideal world everyone would pay a "Professional" installer to do the job, even though I have seen many sub-standard "professional" conversions, including one with a vapour leak in the engine bay within 5 months of conversion

Kit prices have move downwards significantly over the last 12 months, Tinley's prices haven't moved as much as others however I suspect kit and lpg spare part prices are about to rise steeply.

In that case, I'd better start another thread and get one ordered a bit quick (once I have gleaned the wisdom of those on here).....

Yorkshire Autogas are doing very good diy deals on ebay at present. You get a uklpg certificate/inspection and advice and set up all in the price.

Have to say i got one of their kits, once id installed it I took it to them and they set it up running perfectly, despite the guy having to redo some of my crappy wiring. Good service I felt. Would recommend.
