Why the massive price hike??

I paid 59.9 ppl 2 weeks ago for my gas, now I'm paying 75.9ppl what the helps going on? Its now only 2/3 the price of petrol and being I lose about 5mpg on gas its becoming more and more redundant! Any ideas if these prices are becoming a permanent fixture??

We used to be on formula pricing which meant our buying price changed every month based on North Sea price of gas, $ to £ exchange rate and duty. The North Sea price normally goes up in winter and down in summer as over 90% of the LPG goes for heating. I guess the Natural Gas prices and extra demand on heating fuel because of the cold weather has driven the base price of LPG up.

We changed supplier recently and have been given a fixed price for 6 months so I haven't checked North Sea prices lately but our local Shell Stations, who used to have steady pricing, have gone from 65.4p/l to 72.9p/l this week.

Not half price any more but still over 50p cheaper than petrol.

Got my conversion done 27th October and local supply was 56.9p. Now it's 63.9p. To say i'm peeved is an understatement!

Whats anoying is the way we are all encouraged to go green, or use public transport!
I am very late joing the lpg party, partly because I often thought the government would catch on and push the prices up, a bit like they did with diseasel!!!

Although its 50p cheaper than petrol, the conversions on bmw v8s (just look at posts onhere) are not great, on a run on petrol you will see 29mpg easy on gas tuned correctly 20mpg is at best so for me its basicallyh the same price

On the Countrywide scheme I used to pay 32p about 4 years ago. I am now paying 65p and have 3 cars in our household on LPG.

The cheapest places near me are between 62p and 66p, but I reckon those prices will increase with the vat increase in addition to the recent increase in prices.

Although here is a thought for you guys. Our 306TD does around 38 to 49MPG dependant on the type of driving. That now costs over £70 to fill from empty!

So you are getting twice the number of miles as an equivalent running on LPG. So that means there is no price difference between diesel and LPG. Infact, diesel is probably cheaper if you count in the petrol use too.

It's even cheaper if you have a Bosch diesel pump, a few easy cheap mods and run it on straight veg oil at 75ppl from cash and carry.

Gone up 10p/l round here to 73.9, i still get over 200 miles on £30 of gas, but its now well over £60 to get just over 300miles on petrol still quids in

thats about 22mpg, for £34 i can get over 300 miles comfortably, maybe needs a service?

Quite possibly, its about time i did, but then again its no worse than when i installed it, you got to remember its a single point on a v6 with a massive inlet manifold and the mixer is 1 metre from the vapourising unit

ps i only get 27 on petrol according to the onboard computer
and i'm running dual exit Powerflow, ST200 manifold and TB, and MKIII Mondy 57i

Just realised you got ST24 just bought my lad one did notice tho that valve inlets on ST engine were a lot smaller than Cougar ones, perhaps they used ST200 heads on the cougar, first time i noticed it to be fair, all cougars have larger inlets in the heads

im pretty sure the duratec (excl. st200 and any mk3) engines are identical, 170bhp @ 6250rpm

i know mine has a 200 LIM, ford fitted 200 LIM to the later of the duratecs (around 1999 onwards).

Yeah they did, but late 2000/01 lumps turned into 2495cc without EGR too
Just bought a mixer for my ST200 throttle body but need to measure it against my old one as i think they may use the same mixer insert

Lol also realised.....my lads ST came from up near you at Aberdeen (well its closer than i am haha)

I've got a mixer that came with a secondhand R90E I bought that had been taken off a Mondeo of some description. I'll dig it out and measure it, you're welcome to it if it's any good to you (and you're only just down the road from me).

Get off at Goddy and hit Papworth and the A428 mate much quicker that time of day

I sometimes do if I can get as far as Goddy but the queue can sometimes start before the Huntingdon slip. On a couple of times, I've come off at Alconbury or the Huntingdon turn and gone through the middle of Huntingdon/Godmanchester to get out towards Papworth. Once on the A428, if you follow the signs for the M11 you end up in a mile or so queue where it goes down to a single lane of people trying to get into Cambridge so I go past that and go back on myself from the next A14 roundabout (Hinton?). Or, I don't use the A428 at all, carry on at Caxton Gibbet to Longstowe and then turn left (as if going to Tinley Tech) and follow that road until I come out on the M11 at Junction 12.

But what has all this to do with the price of gas?

Cos its getting more expensive we have to find ways of not sitting in traffic wasting it lol
