Anyone converted old Trafic or Master Renault van?

Never converted one, but rectified a few, all campers as it happens. Seemed straightforward enough, depending on age a simple DIY mixer system would probably do nicely.maestro wrote:been looking to buy one of these and convert to gas... 1.7l,2l and 2.2l engines i believe so if anyone has had one done post your comments on mpg, reliability etc
But balance that against advancing age meaning that it might not turn out to quite straightforward e.g. worn valves leading to backfires etc., and from the rants elsewhere I'd guess you've not found many installers prepared to touch it?
www.blazegas.com
ran one for 7 years [ 2.0 ] with no problems at all , nice DIY project , simple cheap open loop type
always full loaded so did about 18mpg , not a lot but didn't do a lot on petrol either , so worthwhile if you intend to keep it running !
I used a vapouriser with a bottom feed , so maintenance free
things to look out for
valve gaps had to be maintained pretty well at spec [ easy job ], hardened valve seats in alloy head but wore just a touch
demanded quality plug leads ...performance leads in cornwall made me a set of 8mm , they list the car length renault ones with the same fittings , sent them the lengths I wanted and they made those for me at the same price
used the cheapest plugs from the hypermarket and ditched them every 10K Km
oh , like rossko said , eriba camper
also never got backfires unless I ran the tank ran out and the mixture got weak , modified the air filter so that the top popped off if it DID happen , long way between lpg pumps in spain!
