Starting Problem

Hiya guys hope someone can help, the car is often taking some time to fire up, I have changed the spark plugs, not sure if it is realted to the gas, wondered if anyone had any similar experiences and could advise on where best to start looking.

The problem I seem to have is when I take it to a garage it starts up first time, so teh problme is quite intermittent, but only happens when I re start the car after a short interval?

Knowing what sort of car would be a great help.

Is the starting issue only when the engine is warm? If so try pouring some water over the CAS (crank angle sensor), when they play up, the car wont start/ have difficulty starting.

sorry guys, the car is a bmw 540, engine is a 4.4 v8 and the gas system is e-g@s...

So pour water on once and that should rectify the problem?? Or every time I have the problem..

ps yes it does seem like it is when the engine is warm

If the sensor is faulty, pouring water on it seems to allow the car to start normally, at least this is the case in oz for cars with hard starting issues.

Even better would be to take the car in and get the diagnostic codes pulled from the ecu.

I had hot starting problems on my 540i. It turned out to be the coolant temp sensor, it's very easy to change.

I had this prob turned out to be fuel pump-have u ever run the petrol really low? when its on gas the petrol pump doesn't get turned off

I think I have a similar situation.

My car ( Volvo xc90 with BRC sequent system ) is now taking longer to start - more cranking cycles - than when the system was first installed. Given that the car starts on petrol I assumed that this was a problem with the Volvo ignition system. I had two Vovlo dealers look at this to no avail - no ecu codes or any other identifiable issues.

What did become apparent was that if the lpg was disabled, the car started perfectly every time i.e. just a couple of cranking cycles.

I need to take the car back to the lpg installers to see if they can solve the puzzle although any suggestions would be appreciated.
