Of course, for a little less than £1k, diesel drivers can have a conversion to run on veg oil (allowed to use 2,500 litres each tax year, without having to declare it), and I doubt veg oil will rise to £1.70 odd a litre.

Hum, if the other news is to be believed it might be more than that. Riots on the streets in less well off parts of the world over the price of food due to the rise in production of biofuels. The market is very unstable in all sorts of things at the moment and there are too many people making too many demands on limited resources. They don't make land anymore....[/quote]

When our country cousins can no longer afford Diesel, they will turn to LPG. It is already the most widely used fuel for cooking and heating in India, China and Pakistan. Lets see what that will do to the price .

IF that ever makes a difference to the cost of LPG then that will be when I will let it worry me. I've been getting told by ill informed doom mongers for the last 8 years that the LPG price will rocket because of some reason or other but amazingly it doesn't. It actually gets cheaper each year when compared to petrol - the differential is the only important number.

As far as I'm aware your not legally allowed to run your car on veg oil. It has to be processed into BIO deisel and you have to declare how much you have produced to the taxman.

Also, I think a Deisel car can just run on a blend of normal deisel and veg oil. If you run it on pure veg oil I hear it can gum up components.

Yes you are.
The limit is 2,500 litres of oil before you have to declare it for tax.
As for gumming up components, you fit a small heat exchanger to preheat the oil (lowers the viscosity), then it's fine for most injectors.
