Been to my Flogas depot in Knowsley this morning and they have added 2p a litre, taking it up to 40p lt. The days of running a V8 on lpg are now well and truly over. My search for a decent Volvo V70 goes on.
Any one want a mint Disco 11 LPG V8 that now runs like a dream for a near give away amount ???

52.9 isnt as bad as I've seen. The BP (was esso) at freuchie in fife must be comedians with their price. Last time i even bothered looking back in july it was 57.9... no doubt past 60 now with the tax increase

Never mind the price, all three LPG stations in Kettering have been down for over a week. Still 43p in Corby though.

I haven't bought any fuel since the October 1st duty increase - been unable to drive - but my local Total, which is always the cheapset within a sensible distance is now 42.9p/ltr.
Next cheapest is Shell at 44.9 (only up 2p/ltr - was 42.9).

Preston lancs was as high as 42.5 2 weeks ago, back down to 39.9ppl this Week - Feel like the prices are going to syrocket if we get anything like a Cold snap.

Loks like a Diesel on my next swap.

It is the curry cookers that will do for LPG prices in the UK. As I understand it from one of the LPG independants I use, Pakistan and India heat and cook mainly on bottled LPG and after China, are the second biggest users and growing rapidly. Stands to reason as they don't have North Sea gas lines and a large electricity infrastructure. Many LPG suppliers I talk to see the differential between LPG and petrol complete gone by 2009.

Doubtful, unless the oil companies sharply increase the LPG cost price to way above the petrol cost.
The pump-price differential is in duty and tax (which are both down to the government), not actual fuel price.
I can't remember where I read it, but when I was researching before I commited to LPG power, I found some information stating that there is a world surplus of LPG and the oil companies are running out of storage space for it.
Even if successive governments increased the duty on LPG by 2p/ltr more than their increase duty on petrol and diesel at every budget, it would still take 20+ years for the pump-price differential to reduce to zero.

I think my source was taking in to account, the greed of the oill companies and operators of filling stations. How often have you see LPG go up a couple of pence over night at the same time as Pet and Derv ?. They don't even wait untill they empty the LPG tank and take on a new delivery. Diesel is already being pushed up with extra pence per litre in order to keep petrol down, LPG will be the next target as petrol increase over the next couple of years.

I am getting pissed off with it good style. They are not reacting to shifts in the market prices of LPG but simply playing us for fools over the current price of oil . They up the price of diesel and pet as soon as the barrel price goes up and now some are now adding the same to LPG on the basis it all comes from the same place. Tell them to F off and try and find some one else, even if they are only a penny cheaper.

You might find a problem trying to find somewhere cheaper. the problem tends not to be with the retailers but the suppliers.
I've got a bulk tank supplied by Calor and I received a letter this week advising of a "surcharge" of 4p per litre (+VAT) on Autogas, this now makes the Calor bulk price higher than I can get it retail locally.
I've been disputing price with them for 2 years now and have now given up and told them to close the account.
The 30000 litres a year that I use are only a drop in the Calor LPG ocean, the rep told me that Calor are losing accounts on a large scale as the will not flex on their pricing structure - they must have too much market share !

Not forgetting that the majority of the pump price is still TAX! And I do not think anyone is taking us for fools, basically they, the government and oil companies have us the consumer over a barrel.

In 1974 around this time there were great concerns about oil going up to nearly $6 a barrel from $4.

I despise lpg retailers who increase the price of gas ( not for tax increase reasons ) several times on the same tank of gas they bought a couple on months previously. Mainly applies to retailers who don't shift a lot of the stuff compared to their other fuels but change the price every time oil goes up.

No retailer will have kept LPG for months - the small amount that I use still requires a refill every 2 weeks.
IF there is a retailer who is shifting such a small amount that he can gain from a price rise then he should be applauded for providing us all with a facility that isn't making him a profit after taking tank rental into account.[ [/code]

My local must have a high turnover of LPG then. I see their tank getting refilled at least once a week.

I see the Morrisons near me being filled quite often but there is a BP station in Pickering that I understand only shifts about a tank every six weeks. Doesn't stop them tinkeking with the price on a weekly basis though.
