Petrol boycott - could it be extended to LPG

I am sure that some of you must have by now seen the campaign to boycott petrol from BP and Esso (if not it is at the end of this post). I wonder if LPG drivers could do the same, not sure the only LPG stations around here are all BP.

We are hitting 9 8 p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever
thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take
a ggressive action to teach them thatBUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:
For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.
If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send i t to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at
least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us
sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference If this makes
sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e.boycott BP and Esso

In the short time I've been using LPG, it's been my experience that BP sites which have LPG price the LPG at 50% of their unleaded price.
Shell, Asda, Morrisons, Total, etc. are all usually 40-45%. I'm convinced that BP are over-charging for their LPG.
I've already begun a one-man boycott of BP LPG for this reason.
Just my experience though.

I go out of my way to avoid the Rip Off merchants but frankly, it is getting harder to find LPG under 45p a litre. The days of converting V8's must now be over . Unfortunately, I am stuck with a V8 Disco 2 and with only a usable 61 litres and 13 mpg, I would be better off with a Td5 .

ah..... but the cost of a litre of petrol is cheap ...its not only the oil companies that are weighting it ...its the government.

the gov are making more money out of it than the oil companies .

the question is ...
not how do we Noble the oilers ...but how do we Noble the oilers and the gov at the same time.

so we boycott the bp's ...
and we also organise a mass picket on the m1 and m6 ...to bring the whole country to full stop.....or any other suggestions ..........

like we could all overload the national grid .....by all turning every appliance in the house on at a certain times ...........that would black the whole country out for hours ...do this at peak work times .when its really needed.

the system is geared for kettles during the cup finals ...but not cookers and kettles and everything else. .......
that would make them think.

i say forget BP just have a go directly at the government....through other means..........we are being repressed too much ...

think speed cams........licence fees .........taxation ....vat ............ID cards ...............and what ever else they sure to come up with to keep us down.

if the gouvernment really did have our interests at heart ..they would have put a ceiling on house prices ..............no they didnt ......as long as you are in dept you are no threat to them....... read ...strikes etc...

there was more too. the council house sales in the past .....than you first thought.

I agree with you totally the government is constantly trying to blame the oil companies when as you quite rightly say the greatest proportion of the cost of fuel is the TAX.

The problem is it is an easy target and I cannot see any government giving up this far to easy income.

I wonder how much additional revenue an additional penny on the price of fuel generates for the government, and how much for the oil companies. Any statisticians out there with this information ?
