I have finally bitten the bullet and am removing the LPG from my Legacy Twin Turbo. I have paid several garages and supposed specialists to look at the a on petrol andhave come to the conclusion that it may be the valave seats. Compression is down and rather than paying to get the heads taken off I have a low mileage engine to go in without the gas. I thought I would be able to remove the reducer/vap and associated wiring and injectors/ecu myself is it possible or am I better going to a garage.

yes its easy tank isolates its self once disconnected from power there is only liquid gas in the pipeline and a little in the vap ..and a bit in the filler pipe ...that also isolates itself. make sure you disconnect the pipe in isolated spot away from town. .....just crack it open and let the wind blow away the escaping gas ...10 Min's . if you want to empty tank .......this will have to be drained the same way, preferably out of the vehicle in a windy isolated field....with a battery connected to the outlet valve .. very long wires.....and no clips ...done as not to cause a spark. all the best..mark

did u have any sort of flashlube system? also how many miles has your car done? Just interested really.

if car still drives on gas run the gas tank out using the engine,also u will have to bridge the injector wiring so it still runs on petrol with the gas removed-would get advice from whoever fitted the gas

Flashlube was not fitted I have done around 35k on gas The car may have had unknown (to me at that time)problems before the gas was fitted once the engine is out I will see what the findings are It was easier just to replace the engine than have people chase the problem

I wouldn't empty the tank by energising the solenoid exactly because of the potential spark issue. You would need to make up an intrinsically safe system - forget it. The multivalve will have a cut off tap on it, close that, remove the electrical (plastic) part of the outlet solenoid, unscrew the cylindrical part from the valve along with the spring and valve inside and then open the cut off tap a little and leave well alone till empty. Remember that the gas is heavier than air so don't do it anywhere there is a low area as it may collect there rather than disperse.
