Vectra 2.0 ls dual fuel keeps cutting out

Hi Gary Where abouts you from...ive got a 2 ltr sri d/fuel ive got it sorted, you should switch to gas mode manually yourself when engine warms a little. mine jerked in first and second gear and sometimes stall at junctions until i got it sorted, whats the exact problem with yours

Hi, our Zafira is the same as this. Since I got the car (1 year) it's managed to switch itself from petrol to lpg but now when stone cold it won't switch till it's warm. Been looked over and serviced by a recommended LPG Vauxhall garage. I can't fault them as they have been very helpful and reasonably priced. However they say this is normal that you have to switch manually. Is that what everyone else finds? Or should our vauxhalls automatically switch from petrol to gas in the mornings like mine was for a year? My missus will never remember to changeover so I have to get this fixed.

Well Vauxhall wouldnt look at the car until I put forward £90 for an hours diagnostics so still not fixed. Phil, You shouldnt have to switch it over manually. Mine varies on when it wants to work on Gas anyway. Sometimes it works after 1/2 mile. Sometimes it takes 8 miles before it will run on Gas. Ive given up with Vauxhall. To be honest I dont think anyone there knows about the Gas system, so Im going to eventually get round to ringing a garage in Manchester that deals with the Vauxhall standard system. When I find out what the problem is I'll let you know. Next time, I'll buy a diesel though

My Corsa [2005 & 33,000 miles] changes over no problem to gas automatically. When the weather is very cold is usually takes about 1/2 mile before it changes but in the summer it is almost immediately after starting. I do sometimes, very rarely though, have a stall at junctions if it has just changed over in the last couple of minutes. Ian

Be great if you would let me know when you find out. I'll do likewise if I get any joy. Further up the thread someone mentioned a temp sensor. Would that make sense if it thought the engine was warm enough when it wasn't actually the case? Is this a component that would be easy to change myself just to try it (I'm handy enough with cars - just not familiar enough with lpg)?

Hi Gary, did you manage to get hold of anyone else to look at the car? Any joy? I was chatting to a guy at the local lpg/calor gas depot who said they have a forklift that runs lpg and in the winter they pour boiling water on the vapouriser to get it to run on lpg more quickly. He also said the vapouriser should have hot water feed pipes on the vauxhall so got me thinking that if the thermostat was stuck open it could slow down the warm up. Where is the vapouriser? Anyone know? What does it look like as I'm tempted to try the kettle of water trick.

Hi Ive given up. Im now running a Vectra 2.2DTi SRI. I get 500+ miles off a full tank £45. £40 would do me about the same on Gas, so the extra fiver a week im spending more than makes up for the fact that I can fill up at any petrol station and spend less time at the petrol station too and am not in there every 2 days.

I hope your Diesel does not break even something as simple as a starter motor. Your savings will be gone then. Diesels are far more expensive to repair and worse is on the way with modern emissions and particulate filters (dealer only). All in all, your unfortunate tale tends to underline what we say to customers every day - Don't buy a car already converted. Buy the car you like unconverted, bring it to us for conversion, have a 2 yr warranty, a low cost service plan and backup for the whole of the time you own the car.
