Audi 100 2.3 Popping its injectors among other things..

as this is a simple injection system I presume it is only a 10valve engine ; before you go further , have you pulled the fault codes on petrol to check there is nothing wrong on the ignition side ? after that , and before spending money , I would check the compressions and valve clearances , presuming you own a spanner or two and can do it yourself [or can get it done cheaply ]; audi being a quality engine this is normally ok , but you don't give the year or mileage ; I spent a lot of time and money once trying to tune an untuneable engine on gas, symptoms like yours....set the valve clearances correct....instant cure!more precision seems needed on lpg as it is not as combustible frankly if those things are good I would search out a good pro to check and tune the gas system , if it has been properly installed , should be straightforward ; what make is the system and where are you?

I've been running an AAR engine for years without problems . First with a simple mixer setup , later with megasquirt on both petrol and lpg . Ran flawless . Think I was the first one on the planet that ran a megasquirt on lpg . I think your problem is that the petrol fuel pump is shut off when running on gas . Then the ignition timing is to far off as the air meter plate will open fully at almost any load . If this is the case , a KE-III jetronic stop relais ought to cure it . Pat

what's a KE-III jetronic stop relais? I've got a mecanicaly injected volvo 740 that I uses fuel pressure to load the flap(and now does not when on gas), is there a output from this flap to the ECU for timming advance? I don't think there is but does anyone know for sure I'm also a little concerned about the flap surviving a backfire, do they live through a backfire? or become twisted scrap metal

KE-III stop relais is a device that keeps the k-jet in deceleration , thus cutting of the fuel to the injectors , but also keeps the air meter plate under pressure . On an audi AAR engine the air meter plate gives a signal to the ignition ecu to dermine engine load . The flap does not survive a backfire . It looks like a pancake after a backfire . Pat
