Lpg jerking

hi i have a transit '99 with necam conversion fitted by tickfords. it runs perfect on petrol and idles perfect on lpg but when its moving it just jerks everywhere. took it to a local installer guy(20 miles away) who said he'd clean it cos it doesn't like dirty gas, he closed the gap in the plug slightly, and now its worse and i'm £45 down. could anyone recommend a repair place in the north west (near chester), or any ideas what the problem could be so i could get some replacement parts. the guy did say get new plugs and leads but this is more than £75 on a chance. don't mind spending money if its gonna work!! any info would be appreciated

When were your plugs and leads last changed. If they have not been recently done they I would recomend you do it any way. LPG is a dry fuel and does need the ignition system to be in optimum working order.

ok we'll have to try but am just concerned i'm throwing good money after bad. does this sound like and ignition problem or possibly mechanical or the dreaded dirty gas are there any other things that can be cleaned. ie filters or valve that can be accessed

I had the same problem with my Mondeo. Change plugs and leads at the same time and set the plugs at 0.7 or 0.07(?) - about 3 points down from factory setting. Hopefully someone with more expertise than I will be along shortly to confirm the gap. Thereafter, runs perfectly.

I had the same problem with my car, as far as I am aware "Dirty Gas" is something made up by installers to make up for a shoddy set up or just to charge you for work that they haven't done i.e. cleaning I took my car to a place in Liverpool A1 Autogas 0151 207 4277 They were far from friendly or helpful but they did fix my car, they said it was something to do with the setup of the computer or something Mine still does it occassionally but nowhere near as bad and only for 10 seconds first thing in a morning on change over Hope This Helps

your' wrong........ [though I guess it may be used like that] there is a recognised problem with contamination in LPG at the moment. It takes the form of a yellow thick oily gunge that collects in your vapour filter and can cause injectors to gum up

What is your source Sheriff? I spoke to the LPGA regarding this Just to point out I did state "as far as I am aware" Yellow Thick oily gunge? Sounds like your engine has puss in it, check for an infection
