Problem with my installation

I have had my car (impreza sport X reg non turbo) converted and the system installed is a Voltran open loop system. It is constantly backfiring and blowing my air pressure sensor that sits in the inlet manifold, costing me £120 a time. I have been back on to the installer who has told me to change spark plugs ( which I have done), change HT leads and if that doesn't work I'll have to get my inlet valves reground. He is adamant that it is a problem with my engine and not the lpg system. I am a bit worried about going to this expense if it is not going to fix the problem. What do you think?

hi mate, I'm no expert myself, but I have fitted about 3 Voltron kits. Im afraid to say, they are not the best kit around.If I remember right,they are Turkish kits, and they no longer have a UK Supplier/Importer. anyway, In my experiance with Voltron, the vaporisers are very poor. It sounds to me that your lpg is running to rich or too lean< which is causing the backfires i have fitted a voltron kit to a Subaru Legacy 2.0 (same engine)with a voltron kit, and it constantly had a dead spot around 800rpm to 1500rpm. I did finally get rid of the dead spot, but only after reducing the mixer inner whole size( with a cardboard washer)to a smaller size. I do believe the open loop system is not really compatiable for those engines, espicially as you say it is a ' x ' reg. Maybe some more experianced fitters on this forum will be able to help you better than myself. I wouldn't touch your inlet valves until you get another opinion on whats wrong with your lpg setup. The voltron kits are cheap to buy, and I didn't realize they are still getting fitted to cars, espicially newer model cars. hope this info helps you a bit. Derek
