Hi all - for th last 6 months I’ve had a 5.0 sc l405 Range Rover 2015. It has a the prins conversion and works very well.
The only issue it has is that in gas when the stop start tries to activate (I.e shut the car off in traffic) it immediately restarts in gas.. every time… on petrol absolutely flawless. I have notice that when it tries to stop the gas switch loses all power for a second then turns itself on as the car starts. On petrol when it stop the gas switch is completely off until the restart.
Any thoughts?
Also - side question, did anyone find anywhere decent to put the air suspension compressor?
L405 SCV8 Stop Start
Re: L405 SCV8 Stop Start
It'll be a Prins VSI2 system, VSI2 is a 'closed shop' system, only Prins dealers have the software to work on it. This limits your options for whom you can take it to for diagnostics/repairs and without saying too much on the one hand they're the best people to take it to because they're the only people you can take it to, on the other hand they definitely wouldn't be the best people you could've taken it to if Prins didn't have the closed shop lol.
It gets worse. Prins made VSI2 to work with a list of vehicles but if someone (a customer or an installer) wanted to convert a vehicle that wasn't on the existing list of vehicles they could pay extra to have Prins take that vehicle and make VSI2 work on it, the installer would then have the licence for converting that make/model vehicle using VSI2 and other installers still wouldn't be able to convert that make/model using VSI2. Last time I checked a firm in Huddersfield had the VSI2 license for 5.0 Rangerovers. People around the country might've thought their more local Prins dealer converted their 5.0Rangerover to LPG but really their more local installer trailered their car to Huddersfield for them to convert it. They converted it doing exactly what Prins told them and using settings Prins told them to enter, they didn't really have to understand everything they were doing when they converted it and I'm not going to say whether I think they know what they're doing with VSI2 but they were never great working on more generic systems on which they didn't get their hand held during fitting or diagnostics.
Not sure about the 5.0 direct injection RR because I've never converted one but I did convert plenty 4.2supercharged port injection RR's and got the best results on them. I have fitted the suspension pump forward of the tank still underneath the boot floor level panel or in the drivers side cubby hole in the luggage area, removing the pump from its sound deadening enclosure and modifying the air lines and wiring. Where did they put your pump?
Good luck.
