I'm randomly locked out

I am going to post this in several place because if I get locked out again, I can't be sure it will be seen.

I have not idea why - i suspect it's a board issue but I keep getting locked out. I've registered several times with different accounts - different users names (all with CNG in user) yet all give the same lock-out.

Here's a grab of what I see.

No amount of pw reset changes matters?

I think - it's worked twice, when I see that alert, if I prod again, I can login. I think?

Did it ask you to change your password?

Did it automatically enter your email address etc instead of your username in the Username section?

After that alert my first thought was the obvious. I've got my PW wrong etc.


1) Did a reset several times.
2) No joy same alert. Delete cookies button does not help
3) Opened up 2-3 new accounts:
cngcng
cngv2

Might be more, those I remember, all have cng in their format.

4) Still got the alert. Delete cookies button does not help
5) Left it 2-3 days. Still got the alert.
6) It seems if I login in 4-5 seconds after the alert I can now logon?
7) Delete cookies button does not help.
8 ) I use Firefox on Mac.
9) manual delete cookies no good either.

I had the same problem back in November using Firefox so tried Edge and that was the same. Told Simon about it, he passed it on to Edward and it started working properly again. Admittedly, I don't log out, I keep it open in a tab all the time and just refresh it a couple of times a day so I can check it for spam (as a moderator).

Don't think it's a browser thing. I run Safari, saw same issue.

I have my own solution. This works, ignore the alert and repeat the login attempt seconds later, and I'm in. I'm guessing it renews the cookie?

Seems to be sorted. No alert. Thank you.

If you've not done so, delete the 2-3 recently created accounts with 'cng' somewhere in the moniker. Those would be me b*ggerin' around in an attempt to get in.

I've noted your email address. I did send an email to the address in the password reset.

Will do! Yeah that was probably to Damian, I probably missed that when updating details across the rest of the site. I'll take a look at that too.
