New Burco Urn

Hi everyone,

I have just purchased a new LPG Burco hot water urn for my food van. The previous 'deluxe' model (which came with the van and is now not fit for purpose) had a fixed connection that fitted straight into the mains pipe in the van via a compression fitting. However, the one I have just bought, which is the standard one, comes with a flexible hose that again needs to be connected to the mains pipe. Now, the issue isn't connecting the hose, I can do that. It's whether I need to use the regulator supplied. The two 19kg bottles that power everything in my van, have hoses that pretty much connect straight to a 37mbar regulator before the gas heads off into the pipes inside the van. With this in mind, can i just connect the new boiler straight to the mains pipe without the additional regulator? (Picture attached). I would happily use it, but I'm not exactly sure how to connect the mail end that would normally screw into the gas bottle, to the fixed pipe!

Sorry for the long winded ramble. Any help appreciated.

Personally I can't see any reason you can't do what you've described, but your probabbly in the wrong place to get an answer here, most of the folk here, are here for running vehicles on LPG rather than motorhome type use like your describing, I can't see you getting any useful output from an already regulated supply by connecting a second regulator like then one you've shown above in any case.

Aah fair enough. Thank you for taking the time to reply though. To be honest, I couldn't see any point in using it either but thought I'd double check with somebody in the know.

You might get some input from the installers here, and you won't find out if you don't ask after all so no harm in asking. The fitting on the end is usually referred to as a POL fitting (the bit that screws into the bottle). I can't imagine you'd find any need for it, but that should help if you decided on needing to screw it into something else.
