Fitting a third tank

I've got this tank going spare from a late factory gas transit, I'm thinking of adding it to my existing system to improve my range and enable to fill where it's cheaper. It should go in the spare wheel cradle area of my mk2 transit.



What am I missing from the 4 holes on this tank, on older 4 hole tanks in sure I've seen a manual shut off but why world anybody remove that?

I've already got 2 cylinder tanks onboard, what fittings do I need to connect this in? I'm running 8mm copper from the filler to the T for the existing tanks, can I go into this with another T and Faro pipe to this tank.
From the outlet solenoid I can just go via a one way valve into aT in the feed to the vaporiser, again the existing is all copper, any problem doing part in faro?

It looks like it just hangs from the 2 bolts through the floor into the frame, that seems a little under spec'd to me even with the addition of spreader plates above the floor or am I just over thinking things?

4 hole tanks rarely have a manual shutoff, looks like you have a gauge and float there, the output solenoid and a fitting at the opposite end for the inlet, hard to say from the photo but looks like the pressure relief might not all be there.

I can't tell what your filling point is there, you might need to either adapt that or replace it if it doesn't match upto pipework. The factory fit setup usually uses the JIC hoses rather than copper (jic gives a quicker fill) though it doesn't look like you have a JIC fitting there to me so I'm not sure what exactly it is you have.

Filling side you can just use an open T to join the existing pipework. The outlet side needs a non-return setup so that tanks cannot cross fill (fill through their outlet from the other tanks). Shouldn't matter if its faro or copper pipework, you will have to work out whats going to work for you as far as fittings are concerned.

Don't know what vehicle its going on, but if its inside you will need the metal gas-tight box and lid. I'd assume by mention of the spare wheel cradle that its an underslung tank going outside the vehicle?

Its generally better to have more fixing points, but if theres only 2 in the centre you are a bit stuck there. I think the original Torroidal undersung i had on the Galaxy only had 2 fixing points on it in the centre, though that was one with the valve in the centre as well which isn't ideal when its underslung. Newer ones usually have 4 points to fix with.

Thanks yes it's under slung same as the original install location, I'll have to have a good look and try to work out what is what outlet wise, I hadn't thought of pressure release as the other threaded one but that would make sense.

All easily done, email Tinleytech with a link to your picture and they'll advise/supply fittings.

There will be various ways of doing it but since you want to run Faro in and out of the tank you'll probably want a Faro inlet for the 4 hole's inlet port and a flange to Faro adapter for the outlet solenoid.

Brilliant thanks, they never used the pump in tank set up on the latter transits did they?
I could use copper if it would be simpler as I've got to buy more of whatever I need anyway.

Some Transits do have a pump in the tank, not sure on the years for the none-pump in tank setups (usually Koltec systems) versus pump in tank setups (the liquid injection setups) but the tank you pictured doesn't have a pump inside.
