In a attempt to improve the lumpy low speed running is it worth investing in injector cleaner ?
If so what brand ?
Always grateful for any help
injector cleaner
Re: injector cleaner
Maybe. Depends if the injectors are gunged up!
I've used ic12 successfully. But it will only clear deposits, won't repair any damaged seals etc. Its worth a try at any rate. Some ecus have a cleaning program so its worth checking your software for one, I used the one on the kme nevo with the cleaning cycle and ic12 and it did appear to help.
Replacing your filters at the same time wouldn't be a bad idea since your already pulling the hose off one side of the filter anyway.

Re: injector cleaner
If this is the Grand Vitara(?) I thought you'd sorted the problem by reconnecting the pipe you found disconnected? viewtopic.php?f=28&t=16607
If it now idles OK with good trims (and no high bank trim figure dialled in) I would expect a lumpy low speed running problem to be due to ignition, setup/calibration or aspects of the install such as pipe lengths / spud placement.
On your other thread you implied fuel trims are still high under low load off idle rpm conditions, this could be due to calibration.

Re: injector cleaner
Hi yes still messing around with the Vitara.
I thought that I had cured the lean code problem but today she has developed a low speed "stumble" for want of a better word.
Once you stick your foot down she runs fine .
If it was my old motorbike I would say the pilot jet was gummed up
It feels like a misfire but its not enough to set off the eml
and she runs fine on petrol
Hence the injector cleaner question
I pulled the plugs and they look ok but I have ordered a new set just in case
I am going to make myself a smoke machine and see if I can locate any hidden air leaks
Good thing I have time on my hands

Re: injector cleaner
Plugs sound like a good bet for that, if its not the plugs then the coils would be the next thing to check over. The bit of "Once you stick your foot down she runs fine" sounds very much ignition related to me. A slightly failing coil pack will show up more on gas than petrol.
If you can borrow a set of them from someone, its worth throwing a set of spark testers on it if your not sure. A full set of 4 makes any ignition problem much easier to see. Of course it depends how the coil pack mounts as to if you can use them.

Re: injector cleaner
I have a set of coil packs of a V6 vitara if the plugs don't fix it this will be my next step.
Re: injector cleaner
I assume it has an idle air valve to keep the idle speed steady? If it does and it's a bit sticky that can cause poor idle.
