Tank removal

Hi all, could anyone help? An old BMW X5 I need to work on the door and the Air Bag is in the way. I would like to disconnect the Battery to make it safe but....Battery is located under the Tank in the boot area. The LPG is not working currently and I do not know if there is any gas in the Tank. So........is it safe to unbolt and move the Tank somehow? Thank you in advance for any advice! Stay Safe.

The tank will have the solenoid valve in the outlet so with the system not switched to gas, it will be closed. There will also likely be a manual valve too, so screw that in and you've got two valves that are shut off. There may be gas in the pipe between the tank and the front end components but with the valves closed you can slacken off the pipe and let that bleed out. Same goes for the fill pipe. There's a non-return valve where it connects to the tank and another in the filler. Again, slacken the pipe and allow it to bleed out. Do it outside and not near any drains (as it is heavier than air so will fill a drain) but bear in mind that 1 litre of liquid produces 270 litres of vapour so it can hiss out for a lot longer than you would expect.

Hi again, I can see this Yellow lever which I assume is the Valve. Any idea which way is Open and Closed or trial and error? I again assume that Is a Fuel Guage in the Picture, seems around Half Full?

When the lever lines up with the flow, as it is at the moment, it is open. Turn through 90 degrees and it is closed. Yes, it looks like you have just over half a tank so bear that in mind when you try to remove it, it's going to be heavy.
