Not strictly true on two counts. Although some of the diesels are the low spec, there's just as many DSE and DHSE as there are 4.0 and 4.6 SE and HSE. All the toys but none of the poke or sound. They are also more expensive to run on diesel than on LPG as the pathetic little 2.5 litre diesel with it's 125 bhp has to be thrashed mercilessly to make it go so only does about 24 mpg.

Ahh, so I stand corrected on the trim levels! I did say 'almost the same cost to run' without implying the 2.5 diesel would cost less to run than the LPG V8.. Anyway, good to know the V8 on LPG is cheaper to run than the 2.5 diesel... and it does reinforce my point! We'll be on the same page regards poke, sound and economy... Maybe you've seen blokes filling diesel P38's while you're filling yours with LPG having a sly look at how much you're paying for fuel. In which case there's a good chance said bloke believes the scare stories regards LPG or chooses not to believe LPG can make a petrol vehicle cheaper to run than the equivalent diesel...

I just like to stand beside the pump, watching a big petrol X5 or something filling up, and say loudly "Bloody hell, down to 60p a litre now!" as I fill the Jeep - you can see them trying to look without being obvious.
I may step up the game a bit and start shouting "Just glad I have a 4 litre petrol engine in this thing, cheap as chips to run!"

Exactly, Camaro..! And in the case of the equivalent diesel model filling alongside you could start wafting all the noxious smoke away from your face while saying 'Pft couldn't live with that! Noisy, slow, stinky, carcinogenic, I'd be worried about giving the kids asthma, diesels break down too often with all those bits like DMF / DPF / diesel fuel filters / and (technology isn't reliable yet) diesel direct injectors, needs servicing too often, I'm glad my big petrol engine is quieter, smoother, more powerful, more reliable, cheaper to run and parts are cheap if anything does break'...

In my above side by side at the pumps examples I should have included soft top diesels... I imagine after having the roof down feeling like had smoked all those Marlboro's having first dampened them with engine oil.. Every time I make the mistake of smoking a fag with oily hands it reminds me of following a stinky diesel, even the best designed car has eddy currents circulating from the rear to the front at certain speeds. Diesel soft tops not as fun as petrol soft tops and that's even before thinking about engine note.
