Anyone fitted lpg to the old KEIII Jetronic 5 Cylinder Audis

LPG is not the only environmentally friendly fuel. This area is for discussing the alternatives.

Anyone fitted lpg to the old KEIII Jetronic 5 Cylinder Audis

#1 Post by dgacampbell » Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:01 pm

Hi all, just looking some advice, or experiences, i'm trying to gather all the parts for a Tartarini Etagas system to be able to install a multipoint lpg system to a 1990 2.3e 5cylinder audi 90(non quattro), has anyone had any experience with this system on this car or others?
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!

You're likely to get more of a response if you post in the General forum, this one is for Alternatives to LPG.

The Etagas is a sort-of multipoint rather than a true one. It feeds a continuous flow of gas much like a single point but feeds it to each intake tract rather than at one point. The advantage is that it reduces the chances of big bangs in the intake in case of a misfire, but that's about all it has going for it. The mixture is adjusted by a pair of stepper motor driven valves. These gum up with monotonous regularity so need to be taken off and regularly cleaned out with carb cleaner. A friend had an Etagas on an XJ6 and needed to strip and clean it every couple of months. The vaporiser isn't brilliant either. Parts are also virtually impossible to get hold of now should you need any spares. How do you intend shutting off the petrol supply on the existing mechanical injection?

Dont know what i am doing wrong here, managed to post here again :?
But anyway, yes i am aware that it is a continuous flow system! But due to the injection on this car not ecu controlled this is the type of system i am looking for?
Do you know anything about the LAndiRenzo IGSystem? something similar?
Surely the likes of the vaporizor that isnt so efficiant could be swapped for one from another system that is better? or are these pipe dreams lol?
Again any information welcome and appreciated!
TIA

You would be better off with the early AEB based system that runs one injector per cylinder but does not need a petrol injector pulse signal.

The other option is to keep it simple and stick to a mixer system
