Are there any CNG filling station left in the UK?

LPG is not the only environmentally friendly fuel. This area is for discussing the alternatives.

Are there any CNG filling station left in the UK?

#1 Post by CNG » Sun Oct 21, 2012 9:38 am

Are there any CNG filling stations left in the UK, I only know of one (in Crewe) and there are rumours of Charnwood truck Services in Nottingham doing filling, and something in Lincoln ( I think), but where else is ther CNG in the UK?

The LPG filling station directory sites don't list CNG.

I heard there was one in London's Regents' Park. Also Gas Container Services(gcs) in Nottingham have filling.

Please do not confuse with LPG, or the Chive LNG (Lorries only) network.

"What is CNG anyway?" Too long an answer to put here, Google it.

Aside from me, with a factory fit Volvo CNG, someone out there has CNG, don't they?

Where do all those Caddy CNG and Iveco CNG guys fill, or is it strictly Depot fed? I know DHL depot feed their van fleet.

I would suggest finding the fleet operators, and finding out if you can get an account to use their depots. DHL would be obvious, but also look for local councils (dustcart fleets) and bus companies.

Actually, I've doen a bit of that, and no one will talk to me. Chive are up the road to me, but theirs is all LNG, so no good.

I have Homefill, and with most of my mileage inside my 180 mile range, it's fine. But that means 90 mile max from home, after that I'm visiting pumps, and for Petrol too, which I hate.

Thanks, I'll keep searching.

We have three in the UK, Wincanton, Crewe, and Nottingham. There is no turn-up and fill public access 24 hr CNG filling in the UK currently.
I've never used Wincanton (not 24hours, I hear you msut call before your arrival) , you need an account set-up for Crewe 9tehn you have 24hrs access) , and Nottingham is 9-5.
A company called Gasrec threaten to build one in Northampton (near he M1) early in 2013.
