Which valve saver kit

#1 Post by philsteward » Mon Mar 14, 2016 9:26 am

Hi all,

Just wondering, in the process of finishing the rebuild on my Discovery 3 4.4 v8 which was misfiring after running on gas for about 80k. I haven't opted for hardened seats due to cost, so thinking of fitting a valve saver kit to hopefully get a bit longer before the valves recess again.

Not sure which one to get, you can spend £30 or £120, but if they do the same thing, why pay more?? I assume the Electronic one is more accurate but as far as I am aware addition of some lube, I.e. through a correctly filled and maintained manual one would be fine. I would be planning on fitting the 8 way branch manifold to ensure it is going to all 8 cylinders. Thoughts please?

It is easy to say pay more and it will be better but not sure if that is true in this case.

Cheers in advance

I've just fitted the vacuum one - can't quite get the right setting. It either seems to use not enough or empty the bottle.... Wish I'd spent the extra and for the electronic kit.
