LPG Conversion - Any help appreciated

Hi
Im looking into getting a LPG kit fitted to my 2002 Toyota Rav4.
The more I look into it the more confusing it becomes.
The company fitting prices vary from £900 to over £2000, is their really that much difference in the product. Even the expensive companies seem to have customers saying how rubbish the installation is.
Also on the Toyota Forums people say Toyota’s cant be converted due to soft valve seats, surely this is rubbish
Also apparently LPG cant destroy automatic gear boxes? Again I suspect rubbish.

Can anyone advise on a good LPG system, installed by good fitters for a fair price. Preferably in the South West. (Swindon -Bristol- Newbury)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Pete

You're really in the wrong area of the forum here. Probably better asking in Having Problems or General Discussion.

Prices of the kit vary considerably, some are cheap, some are good, a few may be both, some may be neither !

Workmanship varies as well. Man hours cost, and people who are really good can usually charge a premium.

Yes, valve seat recession can be a problem in some engines, dunno about yours.

Damage the gearbox ? Complete and utter bull manure.

Converted a Rav 4 last year and still see it and the chap that owns it quite often, I used a Emer multipoint system and its going well, I would deffo have a flash lube system fitted aprt from that the only real question is which tank to use, as there is limited space. On the one I did we fitted a full toroidal tank in the bbot and fitted a false floor over it. Later we also fitted a small cylinder tank along side the torodial to give extra range. Never heard of a auto box having problems due to a lpg conversion!! Thats a good one! Probably put out by some one who fitted a duff auto gear box! Blame it on the gas every time!

The only way LPG can knacker your gearbox is if its not set up properly and jerks
