Hello Everyone

Go and have a look at http://www.FillMeWithLPG.co.uk

Having been very disappointed by the availability of websites and satanav files showing the location and prices of LPG sites I have decided to create my own.
So far, after just 2 days (and while the site was still being written) there have been 39 stations added by a few very helpful people on here, big thank you to those!
Update (08/06/2010): Just two days later we are now up to 88 stations!
Update (10/06/2010): Another 2 days and we're now at 108 stations!

Please go an add any stations local to you that you know of and remember to pop back to update the prices as the rise and fall (most likely rise :()

The satnav files are generated LIVE! So if you add a station and then hit download, it will be in there.

Any bugs and requests for features please discuss them in here.

Updated 08/06/2010

Features
  • Live downloadable Satnav POI's
  • Update prices for stations
  • Editable station names/descriptions
  • Notes for stations, newest appear at the top of the list
  • Mark expired/incorrect stations for deletion, specifying reason
Coming in the nearish future.
  • Viewable history of prices, nationally, and per station
  • List of closest stations to a location along with latest
  • Oldschool mobile station search
If there's anything else you'd like to see please let me know

Coming in the distant future
  • Android applications allowing directions to stations, lists of local cheap stations, adding stations at current GPS position

Well done - great idea

One minor point on the home page it says
"If your local stations are listed please add them."

shouldn't this be "... are not listed ..." ?

The Register option also doesn't work.

http://fillmewithlpg.zxq.net/add1.php

gives the option to login or register. Clicking register forwards to

http://fillmewithlpg.zxq.net/add1.php?p ... o=add1.php

But the page contents are the same (Login or Register)

Yep, that's now working thanks.

When adding the location via the map, there's only a narrow "window" on the map showing rather than the full map, so it makes navigation a bit difficult but when added, the full UK Map's shown. Probably needs to be made bigger.

Might be worth adding the ability to add a PostCode (or town) for the station and then parsing that to Google Maps to give a rough location, rather than having to zoom right in from 200 miles up each time.

I'd also suggest adding a Captcha to the registration page to keep the bots at bay.

Yeah, OK that's a good idea. I'll work that in to the new way to add stations.

Great stuff. It will be a great resource if its used.
Would it be possible to have an optional notes section (my local station is prepay only) also perhaps optional opening hours?

Cheers for getting it up and running though!

Cheers, I'll look in to that, it looks as though you've managed to add a few stations successfully though :)

I've now added a few new features....
...add notes to stations
...search box on main page
...when adding a new station the map automatically zooms to the area entered on the "location" box for the station.

Ask and you shall receive!

Anything else ;)

But if it doesn't recognise the location, it zooms to somewhere on the East coast of the 'States!

Yup, there's a few more I could add but don't know what they are called or even what they sell. There's one just off the M25 around London Colney area that I could find on the map but can't even remember if it's a Shell or BP (must be one or the other though). I've just thought of a couple more now. If I add the stations I'll add the prices whenever I next go by and have a look.

Only other thing, an edit feature. I've put one on that says it's on the A1(M) but it isn't, it's about half a mile after the A1 ceases to become motorway (BP Kates Kabin).

Filling up nicely but there's still huge areas of the country that don't have any entries.

OK, should now get an error saying couldn't match location, then it zooms to the UK?

Not sure how to implement this, if I allow editing to all members, someone could move a station you had placed to the wrong place.
I could make it so that only the person who placed the marker can edit it, but this might be a bit limiting.
Maybe make it so that someone can say why is needs editing and then I could go and change it.
Any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks for all the help debugging!

I don't mean to actually move the location on the map, just change the location description. The one I'm talking about says it's on the A1(M) but it actually isn't, it's just off the end of the A1(M) when it changes to ordinary A1 again.

OK

The person who uploaded the station and can now edit it.

Off to bed, no doubt there are a few more bugs I just wrote in and don't have time to test.

How do you edit a station ... ?? Misspelt the name and I want to fix it ... only option I get when I click "edit station" is to rename the location ??? Also, when I try and edit a note all it does is add another note !!!

:)

I found that too. I suspect it isn't a good idea to make everything fully editable, it's easier to delete it and add it again.
