SAAB B204i (Non-Turbo) - Thames valley area

#1 Post by DXMachina » Mon Dec 07, 2015 10:32 pm

Hi all

Looking to speak to LPG installers in M4 corridor area about my 1996 Saab 900 . Its an old car but in good condition and am willing to risk a conversion.

2.0 litre B204 N/A engine

Would want to see evidence of your workmanship (website etc) and ideally proof that you've previously worked on Saab engines. Although its a car built in GM ownership of SAAB it has a real SAAB engine not a Vauxhall one so I dont consider having done dozens of Astras to be a valid comparison ;-)

Any comments on LPG systems known to work well with this engine are very welcome.

Thanks
Chris

Just about anything. My 900XS (the same NA B204 engine as you have) had a single point system which ran perfectly. The engine is nigh on bullet-proof and takes to LPG like a duck to water.

Can't help with any recommendations for an installer though, there don't seem to be any decent ones anywhere near London.

Agreed with all Gilbert's points.

Though these days most customers tend to prefer a sequential system rather than mixer system where possible.

Converted loads of Saabs but have never been in the habit of taking pics, except where customers have asked or I've just happened to take a pic with phone camera etc. Still, pics of some vehicles I converted on this forum and Twitter etc.

Saab engine is easier to get right than the Vauxhall engine, particularly in turbo guise (turbo Vaux engine in saabs does funny things with extra injection pulses). I've corrected a far greater number of installs on Saabs than number of Saabs I've converted. but have converted my share of them!

Had lots of customers from London / South for techy installs such as the M5 on my Twitter page header.

I'm only an hour and 40 mins from Heathrow ! I know this after picking up granny from the airport the other day ! Can't say she was massively impressed with the drive home though !!

I ran saabs for years personally. But I fell in love with my 1997 vr6 golf. I do still have a 900 turbo in the shed though. I had to move it last year. Put a battery on it. And away she went !! 4? Years in the shed ? Not bad. Bet the petrol must be all of 19 Ron by now !!
