Many non complying vehicles were (until recently) showing as exempt. It does seem unlikely that it has too much to do with clean air - given that Bristol had been ignoring (the old) EU laws long before we left.
Bristol Council have capped bus fares temporarily and have been subsidising private bus ...

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
Hi Gilbertd, that looks like a very powerfull website. Will definitely do some digging there.
I did find a quick vrm based ved site, not .gov, not sure how trusted it should be. Maybe its using data fron your suggested site?

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
Hi Gilbertd, maybe the SAI disco2 I saw was imported? I didn't get that far with it (rotten chassis).
When I checked early disco2 against later disco2, only the late was caz friendly. So, I dangerously assumed later uk ones were sai and a higher euro standard. Another reason to stick with the comfy ...

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
Good luck with the boat engine - sounds like fun.
When I checked bristol caz, p38 4 and 4.6 must pay.
Disco2 4ltr with sai doesn't pay.
Disco3 4.4 2003/4 doesn't pay.
But none are euro4, so I expect they will all have to pay in Bristol soon.
If they will all have to pay, I could still buy a p38 ...

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
Hi Gilbert. That sounds completely correct. I can see bristol CAZ states euro4. But there are some eatlier Euros (disco2 4ltr and disco3 4.4 m62) that are free (currently) in Bristol.
I'm guessing they will slowly update the way they integrate to the dvla website and iron out any inconsistencies ...

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
My understanding of it is that ULEZ is London's Ultra Low Emissions Zone, it applies only to London. Other cities have their own versions but they're normally called Clean Air Zones (CAZ's) not ULEZ and you/we need to apply separately for exemptions to each city's scheme... With CAZ's normally ...

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
Did I suffer a brain fart?
I want a Ulez (bristol) friendly discovery or l322.
Last time I checked (I think) the possible options were;
Disco2 4ltr, disco3 4.4 (bmw), l322 4.4 (bmw).
Looking again, it's only the discos that comply.
London ULEZ is easier than Bristol?? A car that is not exempt ...

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
....can't help with where to advertise a boat engine other than eBay. I assume that is the sort of thing used in narrowboats?
Not sure 10hp is enough for canal boats (other than the smallest day boat maybe).
These things were fitted to small (21-26') sailing boats in the1970-1980s. The 26 ...

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
As we have moved on to boat engines.....
I still have an 1980s Bukh 10hp in the garage. Spare starter, good exhaust manifold. Direct sea water cooling, single cylinder with a huge flywheel and a traditional dumper truck sound.
I replaced this with a beta (marinised kubuto) about 5 years ago.

Ebay has a p38 4.6 advertised as ulez (try the registration number, it is not ulez). I suspect the seller will say "oh. I thought all lpg vehicles are ulez exempt".

Re: If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
Hi Gilbertd.
Many thanks for the l322 valve seat info. That is probably the best option for me if I don't find a d2.
Back to the other forum to read the buyers guides.
Could the 4ltr 2000 p38 'exemption' be due to discovery2 having SAI and being euro3? (Maybe I read that wrong).
Just to be sure I ...

Re: End of a Vauzhall Vectra
It was the necam multipoint that I had. You can simply pull the fuse and it will run on petrol only.
If you suspect a problem with real basics (cam and crank sensor), you don't even need a code reader. Just use the "pedal trick". But, a £15 obd reader from Aldi is easier.

If not a p38 or discovery2 ?
Hi all,
I've been trying to replace a p38 4.6 with something similar.
Discovery2 (with thor 4ltr) looked like a good alternative (and ulez friendly).
As prediicted (by the forums), I cant find a non-rust bucket d2 (I did see one, but sold before I could offer).
My useage has changed, over the ...

Local reliable mechanics (with time available) are very hard to find. Not just for lpg vehicles.
However, there is no shortage of salesmen ready to take your money and happy to promise an easy ownership for any vehicle they sell you.

Re: Land rover discovery 2 underslung tank mounting photos
Hi Bone.
Great photos, thanks. This looks much better than dual tanks in the middle with a reduced capacity fuel tank.
I'm looking for a d2 myself and am likely to need to renew or install tanks.

Many thanks Gilbertd. This is on a vehicle I wanted to make an offer on. But was then put off by the consistency of the waterless coolant.... that is another thread on another forum.

Still searching for that big auto.
I will (surely?) find it eventually, but struggling.
Other than the obvious forums, auction sites, and online magazines (auto trader, enthusiast mags) - where should I be looking?
