Re: Caravan and LPG: Safe in a rear ender?

So piercing the tank means immediate expansion to 270 times the original volume? That would be an explosion then (my guess).

They weren´t trying to sell anything, the crash tests were part of a University project in Berlin. Students developed the impact protection plate.

Caravan and LPG: Safe in a rear ender?

Hi all,

Hope you are enjoying the last few hours of this bank holiday Monday.

I planned on fixing a tow bar to the rear of my Saab 9-5 with an LPG tank in the spare wheel space and already talked to two different mechanics I know (one an LPG specialist, another one a Saab specialist). Both ...

Anybody ever tried an LPG system cleaner?

Hi there,

Did anybody on here ever try an LPG system cleaner?

I am going to try out a spray that will be added to the tank, it supposedly cleans the paraffin out of the injectors.

Spec sheet can be downloaded here:

Re: LPG VARIATIONS UK AND EUROPE

I have read that some petrol stations in Europe have a "dirtier" LPG with paraffin in it that can cause the injectors to gunk up. The Autogas in Germany is actually dirtier in that respect then the one in the UK. Hence I bought an LPG system cleaner spray to try to address that issue preventively.

Re: Is it possible to mix butane to UK LPG?

Thanks for your comprehensive reply, makes sense and very interesting.

My logic to use a Butane gas refill is based on some using spray can based system cleaners, I guess that the pressure of one of those is not much greater then of a regular spray can but I might be wrong. If it wasn´t possible to ...

Re: Is it possible to mix butane to UK LPG?

Thanks for your reply Gilbert, maybe I should have posted in the general forum. I see that financially it would not make sense to try to reach a 60% butane content, but from the mylpg.eu website I understand that the mix varies widely within countries. Given that in the UK LPG is 100% propane, I ...

Is it possible to mix butane to UK LPG?

In the UK, LPG is 100% propane gas. From April to October, on the continent the mix is 60% butane and 40% propane. I just found out that my car makes up to 6 miles per gallon more like that, which translates in considerable extended range and cost savings in the long run.

I know that its possible ...

Re: What is LPG know as around the EU

Bear in mind that although LPG is always LPG, the composition of it is not the same across the EU. In the UK its 100% propane gas, on the continent its 60% Butane / 40% Propane in the summer and the other way around in the winter. All of them work in my car, but I get 6 imperial miles per gallon ...

Do LPG injectors need run in?

Hello,

I got a Saab 9-5 2.3T a few weeks ago, running on LPG. The fuel level indicator showed always full so I took it to a service. The local mechanic said my injectors were not right for my car and I had them changed to higher capacity ones.

Two weeks after the service my car's fuel economy ...

Saab 9-5 185BHP with Tomasetto switch

Good afternoon,

I fell in love with a Saab 9-5 that looks as neat as Cate Blanchett on the night of the Oscars! It is clean, very clean! Everything on it works! And handling all the switches, they feel as good as new. Well, unfortunately the LPG system on it didn't seem to work, which is a shame ...

Re: Autogas experts Hitchin Recommendations?

Sorry to find out too late that I am not the only one who had issues. I had a lot of problems with Autogas Experts from Hitchin or Corby (or wherever else they are from) and I am speechless by the blatant attempt to deceive me and their obvious carelessness. The guy is as care free as a little child ...
