Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Hi guys just a quick update, I haven't moved the actuator yet but intend to do so, I did a quick check on my fuel consumption after the remapping/wireing in the lambda and getting my idle down and sure enough my lpg economy is very much improved (up by around 30%) so I am well happy and can't thanks ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Ahh right I see Richard, that would make sense basically there is a delay in the time taken when the jeep asking for more/less fuel and it actually getting it, so I will now see if I can put it closer but I suspect I shall need some hose so I'll have ago after the bank holiday unless I can some how ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Hi Ross and Richard
Thanks for the advice, my mixer is bolted directly to the inlet and then there is about 150cm of gas pipe from the mixer to the vapouriser and the actuator is in the middle of that pipe so about 75cm away from both the mixer and the vapouriser, not sure if that is an acceptable ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Thanks Richard, I have managed to upload a video here is the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lA8Vmgt_LJs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
The lambda does not move very fast actually as you will see, I actually bought another jeep today (4L 6 cylinder) as it was too cheap to resist and i may fit a ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Right well the throttle is now all sorted and I managed not to blow myself up, I now have my rpm about as steady as I would image it is on any jeep (650 - 700 rpm) I have a had a twiddle with the idle bleed screw but still under any situation it makes no difference to anything so I just have it ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Hi Toby thanks for that I will try alter the tps setting if I still have fluctuating revs, Okay Richard so your saying I have to use the blow lamp whilst the throttle is still on the car and preferably with the LPG system running?? Okay I'm off to that now Be back in a moment once it's off (hahah ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
That's great and I think i now have a full understanding of what I need to do, I have also found out why my rpm is at 1200 and why in the past it was all over the place and this would explain why I couldn't set my lpg the way you were telling me. The revs were all over the place and going up and ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Well I cleaned the mixer out and also my inlet and seems to be running a bit better (can get the idle to be just under the default and fluctuating up and down by 13/15) however my rmp is sat at 1200 which is a bit high, the car also runs perfect on petrol now but also the rpm is at 1200 on petrol as ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Hi Richard, okay cool, I am able to get it to run smooth (without the revs going up and down) however the actuator will always fluctuate by about 20 steps and wondered if that normal? The only thing I am unable to do is to get the actuator to sit anywhere under the default position so let's say the ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
I see, well I think something must be wrong with my vapouriser or something because moving the idle bleed screw in or out seems to do nothing whatsoever, the only thing that seems to do anything is the big bias screw which is currently about 4 or 5 turns out at the moment and if I try to turn t any ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Well I think I'm done for the day, here's how it looks. At 2500 rpm it the actuator runs up and down between 70-85 the default is currently saying 78, when the car is idling it goes up and down between 90-115 the lambda is moving from le to right as it should and I have my default settings for idle ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
If I turn the bias anywhere near in it stalls the car so I have to have it at least 4 turns out to get the car to run smooth I also wonder what the gas level means as mine say 3 ??
Edited to say I just figured out gas level means amount of gas in tank but my fuel sender unit is faulty hence it says ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Okay so at 2500 rpm the actuator running between 70 and 90 ish when you say set the idle at the same or fractionally less do you mean I should set via the idle opening default and closing default section?

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Yeah it's an r90/e , Which screw is which as I have a large one with a spring behind it and a smaller one just above with no spring? It's not revving up and down at the minuite and my default says 75 nd when revved up the actuator sits around the 70/80/90 mark, when on idle it goes up and down from ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Okay I'll try that and follow the instructions in the DIY link, I think one of my main problems is that the actuator and the rpm are always revving up and down and it seems very hard to get the thing to sit still with out having a using the limiter to lock it in one spot, I'm guessing the actuator ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Hi the lambda is still at the left jumping between the two last left boxes (green) but it defiantly still has a signal I have changed the settings so that the idle opening steps over default are now at zero so now the default reads 75 and the position is also at 75 as the settings Wont allow it to ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Okay I messed about with the two screws a little and checked the settings in the actuator tab and they read "idle opening steps over default = 20" then " idle closing steps under default = 20" and "out of idle opening steps over default 40" and then lastly "out of idle closing steps under default 40 ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Cheers tubbs I'm gonna have a go at that lot today I'll let you know how I get on and good idea about joining the grey into the purple up a the millennium ecu area, will save me a lot work as I crimped and taped up my wiring down at the lambda under the jeep with great difficulty and am still ...

Re: Grand Cherokee with nasty mpg on LPG
Are you saying my jeep is somewhat of a thick yank? Hahah yeah I agree with you they are quite a basic machine and considering there a 4.7v8 it's shocking that it don't even produce as much bhp as my partners audi 1.8T lol. Hope you have a nice weekend and hopefully the weather will hold out too ...
