Re: Prins ECU - permanent live feed necessary?

Hi there

Car is a Musso with a Mercedes 6 cylinder.

Some of them drain batteries for a living and there's a lot of chat on the Musso forums about it - funny thing is that this one is apparently random - sometimes it can sit for a few days with no ill effects, others it seems to drain almost ...

Prins ECU - permanent live feed necessary?

Hi all

A quick question:

I'm trying to track down a current drain on my car which has a Prins system fitted - there are a positive (fused) and a negative feed to the ecu/system that are taken directly from the battery terminals.

Am I correct in assuming that the positive feed can be shifted to a ...

Re: Prins system - stalls when switching to LPG

Hi

The kit was a genuine kit with new brass bits, piston and so on - however you mentioned that little spring and I got to thinking.... looked back at my original sketch of how things were when I'd opened the unit up ....
... reopened the unit and I'd not put the little spring in the correct way ...

Re: Prins system - stalls when switching to LPG

Engine quite hot at 86 degrees, reducer quite warm. That may well be your problem, the reducer should also be at 86 degrees, too hot to touch.

Hi - sorry - my bad (lack of explanation) 86 degrees is the temperature shown for the Prins reducer on the PC - engine is approx the same (thermostat is ...

Re: Prins system - stalls when switching to LPG

Hi all

Looks like I have some sort of over pressure problem - here's where I'm at....

I've overhauled the reducer with a new kit - there was some gunk in there but not a huge amount. The sliding pin in the centre was quite sticky though. Prior to removing & reinstalling I run the software and it ...

Re: Prins system - stalls when switching to LPG

I'm not sure how you think it works ; you would need the software produced and licensed by Prins for their own VSI system, running on any laptop of your choice (an elderly one with a serial port is actually better in this game). And a serial or USB connection lead by Prins themselves, or by any ...

Re: Prins system - stalls when switching to LPG

Hi Rossko

Thanks for the input - I'd originally dated the install as about 2005 so it's not likely had much of an overhaul since then.

Do you recommend a particular Prins diagnosis system?

Re: Prins system - stalls when switching to LPG

Sounds like gummed solenoid or injectors to me.

Hi - I've had another look/poke around:

removed under bonnet solenoid - no gunge in there, tested with 12V across the terminals and it's working.
Removed one bank of injectors - again they are clean and operate if 12V applied to them

There is gas ...

Prins system - stalls when switching to LPG

Hi
I have a Prins system fitted to a 6 cylinder Mercedes engine that has just started cutting out when switching to gas.

The vehicle is an automatic but, even so, if we are moving at 30mph or so then there seems to be enough torque getting back through to the engine to keep it turning enough to ...

Re: 2005 fitted system - question - servicing & a noisy inje

I would be suprised at a worn out Keihin, but as there's moving parts some must fail sometime. I've never seen one. If it idles as smoothly on gas as it does on petrol, there won't be much wrong.

I have noticed some Keihin installs come up noisier than others, which suggests there may be variation ...

Re: 2005 fitted system - question - servicing & a noisy inje

Hi

Thanks for the advice and the link to the filter (I was unable to find anything myself) - both filters ordered and looking forward to fitting them at the weekend.

Thanks again

Re: 2005 fitted system - question - servicing & a noisy inje

Hi - thanks for the prompt reply - the system is Prins VSI based and has Keihin 'orange' dot injectors. The post vaporiser filter is housed in a VSI unit with an outlet to each of the injector rails that looks as if it will come apart to replace the filter.

I've been Googling and don't see any ...

2005 fitted system - question - servicing & a noisy injector

Hi all

I have recently bought a 1997 Ssanyong Musso which has the Mercedes M104 3.2 litre straight six petrol engine. There is an LPG system fitted to the vehicle and some of the fittings on it have a manufactured date of May 2005.

So far all I have done with the LPG is fill it up, replace the ...
