Slight misfire - plugs, coil or injector?

2006 Mercedes V8 M113 engine, has a slight misfire under low load, has only happened when cruising on the motorway (70mph @ just over 2k rpm). When it happens it obviously shuts down that cylinder and is very lumpy until I stop and restart. My primitive code reader identifies it as cylinder 1 and I ...

Petrol fuel pump when on gas??

Hi. Quick question, when switching to gas, what happens to the petrol pump? Does it turn off or continue cycling petrol from the tank? So do I need to replace the petrol filter as frequently as normal if running mainly on gas? Cheers

new car for conversion -E350???

My 2001 BMW 530i Touring is coming up 220K and will eventually need replacing. It has been faultless on gas for over 100K, converted by Tubbs 6 years ago. I was thinking about upgrading to a Merc E350 estate such as this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-MERCEDES-E350-SPORT-AUTO-GREY-/201783645962?hash ...

Re: Juddering on LPG?? Garge recommendation nr Bath??

I had an almost identical problem 2 weeks ago on my 530i. Turns out it was a small air leak, very common apparently - the induction hose splits where it tees off for the idle valve. Try spraying various hoses etc with brake cleaner - it should pick up when you hit the leak.

Runing rough, running cold

Hi guys
My car (BMW E39 530i) is running fine on petrol but rough on gas until it is fully warmed up. However, this is taking about 12 miles! I guess it's the themostat that is shot - would a cool running engine have this effect on LPG? I'm presuming the reducer is not getting warmed up - does that ...

Re: High mileages

An average of 50mph might be a bit high. In my previous job with a 35 mile commute each way (33 miles on m-way) my average was just over 40mph according to the OBC. I was expecting it to be closer to 70mph!

Still all good, done over 30k on gas now!
Just the usual high mileage BMW faults to sort out - tired suspension bushes and a bit of a coolant leak.

Bargain???

Is it just me, or did this seem like a total bargain.
Or does it show that already converted cars are worth no more (or even less) than unconverted?

Re: LPG filling time

My local gas station used to be about 10 litres a minute, but apparently they "tweeked" something and now it start at about 18 litres per minutes, finishing at about 16 litres per minutes. So 56 litres takes just over 3 minutes.

Fill rate

One of the known down-sides of LPG is the increased time it takes to refuel compared with unleaded.
But how long?
I've been timing the flow rate (nothing better to do for 5 minutes standing with my hand on a button!!!).
Sometimes it is as low as 7 litres a minute, other times as high as 14 litres a ...

Re: Frozen pumps???

There is probably some safety legislation that says an LPG pump must be manned so can't be pay at pump. I know some of the French filling stations have no staff on and are pay at pump only at night so the LPG pump is locked as the station must be manned while LPG is dispensed. As most H&S ...

Re: E46 BMW 325i

When first installed I maxed out at 54 litres (70 litre tank). Now after 4k miles I can squeeze in just over 57 litres so maybe the float needs some time to find it's level. Also, I can get more in when the car is facing uphill rather than downhill by a couple of litres - local station is on a slope ...

Storage around the tank

Good evening folks
I've only been driving on gas for a couple of weeks so I'm still allowed to ask daft questions. :)
I've a toroidal tank in the spare wheel well, so I've lost some useful storage space.
Can I store stuff around the tank? - high viz jacket, towing rope, can of WD40, selection of ...
