hi and thank you for your detailed reply.
could feel a surge in power when petrol is being added to the mix its def not a surge, more like momentary starvation (lack of fuel) turn the LPG off so petrol kicks in, but of course the temp is warm enough so then it switches LPG back on and round it ...

Re: Sometimes hesitates and bucks on lpg
theres good flow, its inline and the LPG comes on at 25deg, the problem occurs when temps are in the upper 80s and I def don't have airlocks so I think I can rule that out. Also happens on the hottest of days when ambient temps are upper 20s.
The car fully warmed up.

Re: Sometimes hesitates and bucks on lpg
I'm hoping a thread bump maybe someone else out there can help me with this, its really driving me a bit potty.
Seems mainly under load, accelerating uphill etc. On a level surface it will run for miles without problem. The car fully warmed up.
I have changed my filters, unsure what else to try

Sometimes hesitates and bucks on lpg
Hi, I've got an intermittent fault that I'd like to understand and fix. This weekend I drove for miles on LPG no problems but on way home the car felt as though I was lifting my foot, then pushing down on accelerator, back off, down again etc so I switched to petrol and it was ok.

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
Hi, no I didnt leave any of old exhaust in place, new exhaust system fitted.
It has crossed my mind how the reducer would have got it's temps though with no coolant throughput?

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
Hello,
Yes red topped injectors.
I overlooked something really obvious in hindsight... my old engine was air-cooled, new is water cooled.. guess what I didn't hook up to the reducer.
I also think I had disturbed one of the lpg hoses into the manifold which is annoyingly behind the alternator.

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
The option to go back to factory defaults for the software has been selected (reset ECU?).
I'll post pictures of pressure later today and try autocal again.
Injectors etc are all in good condition, I hadn't used the vehicle much before engine went kaput, maybe 3000 mines at most, probably nearer 2k

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
Unfortunately each time I've tried to run the auto calibration the engine dies as it drops the revs too low. I need to read a bit more.
Also the auto learn/update setting required to have auto calibration already run, chicken and egg !

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
Excellent, I'm connected and can see the error. It says "gas injector error 2" The software is much newer now and my old version was buggy.
"gas injector error 2" Unsure if that means injector 2 (great if it is that precise), or generic there's an injector problem on one of them = a code #2?

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
Hi, it's a stag 300-4, same everything as I had with the air-cooled engine and I used the same cd that came with the lead and controller as first supplied. It prompted me to upgrade. I've stuck to stag 300. The laptop is an old one running xp.

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
Well I connected laptop with software but it's stubbornly telling me I have no lpg controller.
The vehicle starts and runs ok so that's good but I don't know why it cannot see the controller?
Any ideas or guidance appreciated :-)
I tried ign off then on before running software, checking the usb ...

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
Great progress, it's all connected. I need a laptop now as it's beeping at me (is there an error code crib sheet?) .
As it's beeping when I turn on the ignition I haven't tried starting it up yet , I'm quite wary of it.
Thank you again

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
a quick update, I have successfully located all the wires, took a bit longer as I wanted to be sure they were correct. Light fades so quickly now so tomorrow I cut and solder.
Bar setting it up (borrowing a friends laptop) the only wire I seem to have 'loose' is for the lambda sensor and this one ...

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
So just to clarify, the 1974 VW engine had EFi pulsed port fuel injection (not K Jetronic) and you had the Stag 300 system working on that engine? I'd be interested in the spec of the temp sensor (reducer or exhaust?)... If it's just a normal reducer temp sensor attached to the reducer you didn't ...

Re: wires help - swapped from aircooled to watercooled
That's a great reply and one I'll print it tomorrow to study.
The original vw air-cooled engine you are correct did not have a lamda but I have a wire that needs to be connected. The VW engine was an early fuel injection with ECU etc so I'm not far from being completed.
